Cursed Raine AU. When in cursed form Raine immediately goes searching for Eda. This becomes a problem when Eda is walking through the market & gets clothes lined by an eight foot tall bat wanting to cuddle. People know Raine & lot less than Eda because Raine spends a lot of time avoiding people. When they do go out they wear a massive oversized hoodie & bat mask to avoid being spotted. No one even really knows what they exactly look like anymore. They've become an urban legend cause of it. -Punk

CRYPTID RAINE MY BELOVED

Raine's beast form unfortunately is a lonely bastard and knows that the wild-haired lady will give cuddles, so it's gonna make this everyone elses problem.

the Bat Bard is a legend passed around almost in a Batman way, because I'm hilarious. that the beast haunts the night and you best be asleep on time, otherwise you'll get nabbed. usually a tale told to younger kids to get them to abide by their curfews. but it's also said that anyone playing music when the bat beast is prowling will acquire their own audience of one. the beast spares those who create a tune they enjoy.

in reality Raine just passes out at night and there's a 30% chance that they'll wake up either on the roof or somewhere else in the house and panic that the beast went roaming and they're gonna find a dead rat by the front door again. they're all mysterious and vague when out and about with their mask and cloak, but they're a huge dork when actually spoken to

1/2 I see the cursed Raine AU floating around so I'll take a stab at my own version. In this AU Raine, Eda, & Lilith are all aiming for the emperor's coven. The problem is there are only two spots. Lilith fearing being alone curses Raine hoping it'll stop them from competing. & it does. The problem is Eda is so distraught, she loves Raine & hates seeing them this way. Eda ends up dropping out of the race & trying to help Raine. -Punk Anon

2/3 Lilith realizes her mistake & how much Eda loves Raine & spends years trying to find a cure while Eda & Raine run from the law trying to find one with wild magic. Eda tries to take part of the curse on, if she is successful or not is up in the air. Eda & Raine don't get together for a while because Eda worries she would be taking advantage of Raine while they'e vulnerable & Raine worries Eda won't love them with the curse. Raine is the Bat Bard & Eda stays the Owl Lady. 3/3 The Bat Beast is different than the Owl Beast. It is a flying fox bat & fairly skittish. They tend to avoid confrontation, but when confrontation happens it's scream can knock people out. The Bat is extremely affectionate towards Eda & when it does come out they look for Eda & flop on top of her or hang from the ceiling with Eda in their arms. The Bat comes out most when Raine's anxiety flares up so Raine tends to stay home a lot. Raine never joined the bard coven due to the curse.

this also doubles as a 'Eda and Raine don't split' au since Raine I imagine would be a bit more open about their curse what with Eda constantly trying to help, and though there would be some hiding and uncertainty, Eda's tough, and Raine isn't as stubborn as her.

the two are the local thieves and notorious most powerful duo in the Isles (in Eda's words). Even with Raine being the Bat Beast and them insisting on staying inside 24/7, Eda continues to pull them into public (with precautions, of course). She's the louder of the two, and most people speak of the Owl Lady when they mention the duo. When the Bat Bard is brought up, its often in relation to the Bat Beast, or them teaming with Eda on something.

Raine starts to be more off on their own and handle themselves later on, these two still get some character development, some of it surrounding Raine getting more used to their curse and accepting that they weren't as confident as Eda, but that didn't matter and they couldn't hide away out of fear, that they can continue on without Eda and don't need her help (which they knew, it was just hard to detach themself after Everything) all the time. and a bit of Eda realizing shes still really reckless and needs to tone it down a bit on top of Listening more, stuff like that.

also means that both King and Luz get adopted by the 2, and the Bat Beast is handled a lot less dangerously than the Owl Beast. also means that Raine would be a bigger priority for the Emperor's Coven to capture than Eda, and they'd practically ignore her in order to capture Raine, which would not go over well, lemme tell u that
