This deafjason hc has taken over my life.... how about finding out Jason's deaf from Bruce's perspective? Would he feel bad he didn't notice for over a year? Love your head cannon!!!
Bruce finds out from Cassandra of all people. She asks him some mundane question about resources for people who are deaf and after Bruce replies, he asks why. And Cass simply replies, ‘I’m checking into things for Jason’ and Bruce just understands.
He hates himself for not noticing, he hates himself over the fact Jason feels he couldn’t tell him. Bruce feels guilty that he couldn't protect Jason again. Jason is his son and Bruce just keeps failing him. He wants to go confront Jason, demand answers to what happened and why Jason kept this hidden, but Alfred intervenes. He manages, somehow, to talk Bruce into his senses. That Jason kept this hidden because he doesn’t want to be treated differently.
But Jason is Bruce’s son and Bruce will be damned if he doesn’t adjust to this. So he spends a week following Jason, in and out of the cape, making sure Jason is really okay. He learns how Jason has changed his fighting style, finds the weaknesses and devotes everything he has to protecting those weaknesses. When he finds out everyone else but Dick knew, he sits them all down and goes over exactly how Jason’s style has changed and how they all have to Keep Him Safe.
Jason is family, however much he doesn’t want to be.
