Saw your post and wanted to yell about animate Columbus! I did the photo op and when I introduced myself he went in for a handshake and said “hi I’m Christian!” (Internally I was that ‘I know this and I love you’ meme lmao) He had his arm around me for the picture and after they took it he like rubbed a little circle on my back and smiled at me and said “take care” and when I tell you my gay ass almost passed out 😭 he was so incredibly sweet and I went up to his autograph booth later where we took a selfie and we chatted a bit, apparently one of his first jobs was in my city! And I got to tell him how much I love Falsettos and he had the biggest smile 🥹

TLDR our fandom can’t relate when people say “never meet your heroes cause they’ll just disappoint you” like our man could never????

No exactly!!! I’ve had folks ask me if he’s mean at the stage door when he doesn’t smile in pictures and it couldn’t be further from the truth!! He’s just a reserved and respectful king. He’s such a kind man and I’m so glad he’s making folks happy at these cons 😄

Hiii hope you're doing well! Ok so I heard u wanna hear about experiences meeting cborle at Animate Columbus so here's mine

(Had to blur my face for personal reasons srry. Also my pic with him was the only one I've seen where he wasn't really smiling and I fear I may have accidentally upset him or made him uncomfy, or maybe he was just tired lol)

He was really sweet! I got to go there for a birthday gift and he even wished me happy birthday! I do theatre and I told him he's one of my biggest inspos for acting and he said he was so honored. Overall 10000/10 experience, almost died bc I didn't know what to say

Aww. Well obviously I wasn’t there with u and I can only speak personally of my own experiences meeting Christian, but there have been times where we were having the most lovely conversations, everything very normal and he’s happy and smiling, and then when we take a photo he looks similar to your photo or just not smiling at all, and yeah I’d worry about it too but also literally 0.1 second before the photo he was all smiles and laughing, and then 0.1 second afterwards he’d go back to smiling and laughing. and he’s done that many many times at the stage door before, and I imagine it can be draining to have a huge smile every 2 seconds for a photo op. So maybe he just wasn’t thinking about it and wanted to change it up!! Not trying to speak on behalf of him or anything cuz truly who knows, just giving my two cents on possible alternatives cuz I can relate to spiraling about worrying that I upset someone based on a tiny thing when they were probably just thinking about something else. But he seems all smiles for the second photo so that’s sweet!!!

HAIIII!!!!! I saw Christian at galaxycon orlando on saturday so im running into your asks to tell u all about it 😁😁 one of the very first things we ended up doing at the convention were signatures (we happened to walk to where the celebrity booths were right as we got in the building and lo and behold HE WAS THERE!!! i positively freaked out soooo bad omg it was the best surprise ever) while in line i found my bestfriend who was also at the convention AND someone dressed as Whizzer Brown recognized my SR! Shakespeare cosplay which felt SO AMAZING AHHH…i ended up getting 2 signatures from him (one on my SR! playbill and another on a photo of him and the four gentlemen of Verona :) ) and HE WAS THE SWEETEST EVERRR 💞 he recognized my outfit after i gave him the playbill and told me i looked amazing (omg i was SO HONORED 🥹) and we chatted about Something Rotten! a bit as he signed my things :)

a little bit later we went back to his booth to get a signature for my friend (who sadly couldn’t make it to the con 💔) on her falsettos poster and once again he was sooooo super nice 💖 my friend who was with me showed him a photo of her pet guinea pig (who we named after Whizzer Brown) and he went “he LOOKS like Whizzer!” which me and her are still giggling about today 😭💞 me and my other friend at the con had a photo op with him later in the day which was super awesome as well! me and him were both shaky messes the entire time we were in line HAHDGSJHDH it was an amazing day :)

WELCOME BACK!!! Omg this is so wholesome. I’m so glad he was so nice and that you had a good time!! I love that you ran into a Whizzer cosplayer. And that Guinea pig does look like him!! And I love the Shakespeare cosplay. I went as Shakespeare for Halloween years ago!! It’s so fulfilling to have a positive interaction with an actor that means so much to you so I’m glad it was amazing 😄

May I ask, did you have to pay for each separate autograph? At the cons I’ve been to, if you want more than one item signed, you literally have to pay separately for every single one. So for example if you want 3 items signed then that’s $60 for EACH item or however much it would cost. Or did they let you get 3 items signed for one auto ticket? Just asking in case I decide to go see him at a con and can know in advance how it will work lol. And how long was his line on average?
