Jayce will totally learn how to dance just so he can ask Batdad for a dance when Bruce has to leave the gala to be Batman.
I love the idea that Batdad thinks he'll protect Jayce at a gala to keep him out of the claws of shady investors but then when the loneliness after Bruce leaves kicks in, Jayce just offers him a dance with that thousand-watt smile and for a moment, Jayce becomes the protector.
@sweetheartsofmidsummer If you still do batdad, maybe taking Dick and Bruce out to his first pride parade? Just a small Dick on the shoulders of Bruce, watching with amazement as the colourful wagons and people pass by, thatd be cute, or organising the first pride parade for Gotham and somehow managing to get Superman the gay flag as a cape?
It's definitely not easy being a public figure, sometimes.
You're not a celebrity in the way that an actor or entertainer is, which means people are much more willing to let you have a private life - Businessman Bruce Wayne and his husband are much less interesting to the average media consumer than say, a movie star, or a singer.
Bruce is a little more interesting since he recently stopped being missing from traveling round the world, and of course, because he's insanely hot.
But luckily, even as an out gay man, most people are content to let you and your bisexual husband do you.
Dick mentions the Pride parade first. Saying that his parents were going to take him - some of Haly's Circus was meant to perform there before... well.
In any case, it's Bruce's first Pride as well, as Alfred encouraged you two to carry out your burgeoning love in private to avoid having any paparazzi ruin it for you.
You went each year that Bruce was gone traveling and training - it was good to feel like you weren't alone; like you were part of a community.
You even have some friends there who are happy to run interference to ensure you and your son and husband remain safe from being accosted.
Bruce has been Batman for a couple years at this point, and Dick has not yet become Robin, though he's been with you for almost a year, and knows about Batman. So you're still in the mindset that maybe you three can become a simple family, safe and together after tragedy.
"Dick, Bruce, this is Davy, my friend. Davy, this is Dick, my son, and Bruce, my husband."
Davy is dressed in a bright, rainbow-patterned recreation of Batman's cowl and armor, and he looks really good. "Nice to meet you, citizens! The Rainbow Knight welcomes you to Pride!"
Dick grins. "You look really cool, sir."
"Well, since the Dark Knight couldn't be here, I'm filling in for him."
You give Bruce a sly look before you get a picture of Dick next to the Rainbow Knight.
Dick did ask about what Pride meant to you both. And you explained as best you could that it's about community and working towards a future where love and equality can be assured without fear or hatred.
And of course, coming from the circus, Dick's rather at home amongst the chaotic but vibrant atmosphere.
Bruce is a little more uncomfortable, not so great among huge crowds, so he takes a while to become at ease at the parade.
But one of your other friends starts to talk to him, getting him to open up and calm down, and you keep an eye on Dick, getting him an awesome scarf that he puts several pins on.
He gets the Pride flag painted on his cheek by someone too, looking adorable with his radiant grin.
Gotham's Pride Parade has been pretty safe, ever since Sal Maroni's daughter transitioned socially and came to Pride. Now it's kind of the neutral event of the year in which nobody tries to make any moves.
So you truly feel safe when you walk with Dick among the stalls, before returning to your friends and husband.
"The Rainbow Knight ran off." Bruce chuckles.
You laugh. "Didn't scare him off, did you?"
"Oh, I'm sure he's saving the day somewhere."
"Pops, B, the parade's about to start!" Dick whines, and Bruce scoops up the boy, grinning as he sets Dick on his shoulders.
You get another picture of them, looking so much like father and son, the small acrobat grinning ear to ear as he sits on the shoulders of the broad-shouldered, smiling man beneath him.
The Rainbow Knight turns out to be the grand marshal for the parade, waving and dancing on the first float, making Bruce laugh and cheer wildly.
He turns out to be Gotham Pride's greatest gem, always hoped for and beloved.
But floats and wagons and dancers walk by, beautiful and graceful and wild and free.
Dick watches all of them with happiness in his eyes, and knows he's among his people, even then.
You didn't know it'd become a tradition for you three, even when Dick left for Bludhaven. He'd come back and the three of you would go to the parade. Helping people, but mostly bonding as a family, beyond Batman and Robin and Gotham itself.
As queer people part of the same family, sharing love and pride for each other and yourselves.
As more of your family and friends make appearances, the party grows, but at the core remains you, your husband, and your son.
Because it's one of your favorite memories - Bruce protective and fatherly and grinning, among actual friends, and his son - your son - with a matching grin and feeling happy and safe and willing to be himself.
What more could you ever wish for?
And one day, maybe Dick will find love with someone and bring them with you, and the family will grow even more.
And truly, you couldn't be prouder of your family.
What if batfam meets a version of Batdad who is Spider-Man in his universe??
"We can't interfere!" Bruce growls. "I know you want to help, but after the last world we jumped into, we can't take chances."
Dick sighs. The last world they went into, they nearly ruined everything because Gotham had no Batman yet.
But luckily, something descends upon the mugging in progress.
But it isn't Batman.
A strange silver cable zips into view and slams into the assailant's back, spreading in a strange geometric pattern. He stumbles forward at the force of the blow, before the cable springs taut, and the mugger is flung into the air.
Someone lithe and graceful sails through the air, trailing more silver cables and quickly wraps the stranger up in them, robotic arms emerging from their back to assist - almost like a four-armed... spider.
The mugger dangles upside down from a traffic light, completely mummified in silver, and the figure, in a black bodysuit with light-catching silver filaments in a web pattern shining along the whole thing, and what appears to be a yellow hood and short jacket, crouches atop it.
"You get home safe, you hear?" they call. "We'll just be... hangin' around."
The would-be victim grins up at them. "Thanks, Spidey!"
But the Bats are looking shocked.
Because that was clearly your voice, only slightly altered by a voice changer - the voice you use when you broadcast to negotiate with people while they're on patrol.
Before they can speak, though, you've flung yourself through the air, opening your arms to reveal the gliding wings attached from your sides to the arms of your jacket so you can sail through the air.
"Pops is... Spider-Man?" Dick yelps.
From what they can surmise, in this universe, Bruce still lost his parents at a young age, but he didn't develop the desire to become Batman.
Instead, while on a field trip, you were exposed to some kind of radioactive spider, and Bruce did what he could to keep your secret and develop his technological aptitude to help you.
It was Alfred's death that convinced you to become a hero - his last words to you being that with great power came great responsibility.
You and Bruce are still very young in this world, barely old enough to have adopted a young Dick Grayson. It's probable that Damian won't be born, and Tim won't be adopted by you.
You're so much more cheerful than Batman - Gotham's Spider-Man quips, sometimes with dark humor, and inspires her citizens to fight back against the oppressive darkness of their city with good humor and clever tactics.
The Bats make their way to Wayne Manor, only to find the harsh brickwork and traditional architecture has made way for modern-quality of life improvements, fiber optic light fixtures, glass bay windows, and high tech at every turn. It barely resembles their Wayne Manor.
In fact, the caverns beneath the estate aren't even utilized, with there instead being a high-tech laboratory on the grounds with a launchpad to fling you over the bay and into the city.
It's a shock to see them - Bruce Wayne, his body in shape but much softer: he obviously works out hard but he's clearly not a fighter. His movements are relaxed, even sluggish compared to the constant vigilance of the Bat. And he wears an unfamiliar expression on his face - a genuine lazy grin.
Meanwhile there's this world's you - lithe and strong, battle-worn and with the at-rest tension of a vigilante.
Alt-Bruce and you have an easy banter, a love very much like two young people - you're only a little older than Dick, after all, which he finds weird - especially when he and Tim babysit his younger version.
Jason is utterly touched when Alt-Bruce asks about all the kids, so he can make sure to adopt them - he wouldn't want them going homeless in this world. All Jason knows is that young Jason Todd in this world might just be saved from years of trauma.
You're still the strategist, but Bruce is your mission control and the gear/science guy - he helps with upgrades and is the one to suggest a way to get the Bats back to their world.
But you'll need their help.
You fly through the city that night accompanied by five gliding shadows. Shadows that brutally subdue the henchmen of Black Mask as you soar above their heads, connecting some power towers with a filament web, forming a major circuit Alt-Bruce can use to power a tachyonic collider, which should launch them back into their world.
They return to their world, but Jason pulls Bruce aside.
"B... you owe him."
"Owe him what? Who, Jaybird?"
Jason sighs. "Pops. You owe him a chance to see that smile. On you."
Bruce looks at him. "You think my face can still do that?"
"Hey, I was surprised that you were actually funny! But... yeah, I do."
a one shot where batdad meets ra's al ghul for the first time and they have tea together, talk while waiting for bruce to arrive
"Please, Mr. Wayne. Have a seat." the strange man says.
It's bad enough that all your camera feeds have gone dark, the last you heard over comms from your family being the sounds of combat with mysterious assassins.
"It's not generally customary for the guest to offer a seat to his host." you respond, causing the man to chuckle.
"That is certainly true. And in the same vein, not customary for the host to not know whom his guest may be. I am Ra's al Ghul."
You freeze, the name making your blood run cold.
He... looks far too young to be the same man that taught your husband back when he was training, but it wasn't like people would be scrambling to use the name of the Demon's Head.
"And you know my name, it seems."
"Of course. We have been watching you with great interest."
"That's news to me." you say, thanking your lucky stars that Alfred isn't here tonight - so that if you do end up dying, at least your boys will have a caretaker.
A few more assassins in dark clothing emerge from the shadows, setting up a tea service before vanishing. Seeing no other recourse, you sit across from him, watching as he pours your tea.
"You of course know I am well-acquainted with your husband?"
"Of course." you say, sipping at the delightful porcelain cup. "Though it would seem your daughter would prefer to better acquainted with him."
"I do apologize for Talia. She seems to think I would favor her more were she to produce a fitting heir."
"A fitting heir?
"Archaic terminology, to be sure. Successor would be the better word. For many a year now, I have entreated your husband to be my successor, though his unwillingness to kill makes him... ill-suited."
"And so Talia..."
"Believes that should she and Bruce form a union, they may together bear a child that inherits both of their-"
"That's... not how having kids works."
"Indeed. I personally prefer that my successor show their worth through deed rather than breeding."
"So...may I ask why you've been watching me?"
"Of course. You see, the League of Shadows often examines civilization - which parts of it are worth sparing, and which parts have become too corrupted, too fallen, and must be purged. Gotham is one such city."
You balk at the idea of the League having so much power - more than Bruce had estimated when he told you about them.
"It was Thomas and Martha Wayne who, nigh-singlehandedly, kept this city afloat among the iniquity and vice of its underbelly. When they were murdered, we assumed the hope of the city had been slaughtered with them."
"But who should arrive on the scene but a young upstart with no other connection to Gotham high society but his bosom friendship and young romance with its de facto prince? You, my dear Mr. Wayne, took charge of this city and became its champion. Even among the cesspool of calumny and disdain, you have lit a beacon of truth. The last bastion of such things."
"That can't be true. I'm not the only one doing things to help." you protest. Ra's smirks indulgently, like an uncle tutting at the presumptive modesty of a favorite nephew.
"You refer to your husband?"
"Not solely. There are others trying to make a difference. Like Dr. Thompkins or Commissioner Gordon."
"And yet you are the most notable, and not only does your wealth make you the most powerful, your intellect and tactical mind makes you the one most charged to affect change. I say your wealth, and not your husband's wealth, because as I know it, you have your own standing as CEO of Wayne Enterprises as well as the Wayne fortune."
"You have been doing your research."
"Indeed. The League is no simple assassins' guild, my dear. We guide the direction of the world, in what we hope to be a favorable direction. I have been remiss in the past century, allowing the world to languor this way, what with its global warming and its wars of convenience and profit. I have intended to change it through drastic action, but... you have intrigued me. Perhaps there are... other ways. No great man truly wishes to end the life of another, and should it be rendered unnecessary, our sword can be stayed."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... your way. Gotham has seen a marked turn under your direction and manipulation. Perhaps not an instant one, but a noticeable one. To us, a favorable one."
"So you're saying that Gotham's survival is... totally dependent on me?"
"For now, yes. But that may change. The reason I sent Talia to distract your husband is because I wished to get the measure of you for myself. I admit, I once considered you nothing more than an emotional chain tethering Bruce to foolish sentimentality, but I came to appreciate your tactic. Far less brutal, and one I will also admit I dismissed. I have held a sword for so long, I forgot the utility of other tools."
"So... you want to work with me?" you frown, tilting your head.
"Indeed. We have much to learn from each other, and with the combination of our approaches, we may find a greater progress than we would in conflict."
"Combination of our approaches? You mean killing people?"
"You cannot deny it would be expedient."
"Even if I accepted that, it'd be the wrong approach, even practically! Just killing the people that stand in our way would create chaos, AND it wouldn't guarantee change the way systemic reform would!"
"See why you would be invaluable?" Ra's grins, unperturbed. "However, one could argue that your systemic reform could be hastened by removing those that would prove obstacles to it."
"Or it could jeopardize the movement by giving the opposition martyrs."
"Ha!" Ra's barks out a laugh of genuine delight. "You remind me of someone I once knew. She would never let my mind rest for a moment when she disagreed with me, nor would she let me hide behind pretty words or turns of phrase."
"Sounds like you need someone like that around you." You chuckle, and Ra's smirks in agreement.
"Indeed I do. Will you join the League of Shadows?"
"I hope this isn't the kind of offer that's only got one answer."
"For once, I will accept either answer. A 'no' now may become a 'yes' in the future."
"Then I shall take some time to consider."
"Indeed. I believe your husband is about to join us anyway..."
Ra's seemed a sensible, charming man when you first met him, but it was impossible to ignore how menacing he could be - how many atrocities he had already committed and planned to commit.
Indeed, though he allowed Talia to continue pursuing Bruce, it seemed he tried just as hard to woo you to his side.
In any case, it was never going to be the last time the al Ghul family became a part of your life...
Batdad wakes up to bruce sitting on the bed looking anxious
When batdad asks bruce timidly explains that he's been thinking about it and plans on letting go of being batman so they can spend more positive time together
Bruce thinks Batdad will scold him, lambast him, and is utterly shocked when Batdad hugs him and sobs, relief evident in every cell of his body.
Part of his drive at being Batman, the initial impetus is definitely grief and a survivor's guilt that became part of his formative memories. So he expects guilt, expects people to feel betrayed by him. And Batdad just is relieved, incoherent except for desperate gratitude.
It feels... good.
And Bruce knows it'll be difficult for him, knows it'll be strange after almost a decade, to hang up the cowl. But he knows that he can't betray Batdad after this, and this solifies his path in his mind.
Bruce finally coming to his senses and stop being batman and being a good Lil hubby for batdad and doing anything to make him feel comfortable while also trying to be a better father for his children and trying to take good care of them
tbh this would be so healthy for Bruce and so good for the world. Not that he doesn't do a lot of demonstrable good as Batman, but he can do so much more as Bruce Wayne in different ways. And that's just outwardly, like focusing on charity work and business reform and political lobbying and supporting the Justice League as a tactician and not a field operative.
For all his kids, he's setting the example of the exit strategy, of knowing that you CAN leave the life and still be happy. He's going to a therapist that they find for the Justice League (and making the League so much more mentally healthy this way too btw) and slowly he's starting to heal, to merge his personae and finally start living as Bruce Wayne instead of Batman. He's healing with Dick and Jason and he's actually trying out calling them "son" more often along with their names, and the other terms of endearment he uses. Damian is not at all happy about having to leave heroing cold-turkey but Bruce doesn't make him switch over completely. He has a seat at the table and is in the loop. He doesn't even have to switch back over to doing in person school instead of virtual. Damian finally gets to see who he is without assassin-ing or vigilante-ing. And don't forget all the others, too!
and for Batdad, there's an unspoken apology but there's also an adorable lack of direction Bruce has. He's forgotten how it was, living only one life at a time. So Batdad almost has to re-teach him how to have free time, how to relax, how to plan things in advance that don't need seven different contingencies. It's just... peace. Gotham's still shitty at first, but he's not using a hammer to sweep it up anymore, he's working with other tools. And he can help with his intelligence and training in training others and studying things from control room, and he turns out to be really damn good at it.

An: I might have changed the request up a bit but I think it works just as well! (If I misspelled anything let me know ASAP so I can fix it)
"Master Y/n you really ought to be more careful, you're lucky the break was clean otherwise you really would have had to have gone to the doctor." Alfred scolded as he wrapped up the broken arm. "At least we have someone as amazing as you to take care of it right Alfred?" You jested, wincing every so often when he wrapped it. "Flattery won't help the injury heal any quicker, but I will say I am flattered."

"So, would you like to explain to me and the rest of us how this happened?" Bruce asked with his chair turned towards you, his cowl was currently off and he was doing his best to give off a really intimidating face but it just wasn't working, but you could tell he meant business but that didn't keep the giggles from escaping your mouth. "O-okay I'll talk, you know the charity I was helping out with?" He hummed in confirmation. "Well since it was a baseball charity one of the batters accidentally threw the bat too hard and it almost hit this kid so I just used my 'dad instinct' and blocked it, and now I have this broken arm." Dick started laughing and so did the others, they thought something way worse happened but realizing how it happened made most of them start laughing. Bruce sighed but also chuckled at this little incident.

"Damian, just because my arm is broken it doesn't mean I can't do simple chores," You explained as he snatched the broom from your hands the second he saw you outside cleaning. "'TT', Alfred said that you needed time to heal which means not using that arm until it's in pristine condition." Damian swiftly took the broom away from you and did the task you were just about to do. "I believe Tim needed you baba." You sighed at this but accepted your fate. "Alright, thanks for letting me know Damian." You patted his shoulder before leaving to find Tim.

"Woah there Mr. Wayne I got this box just tell me where to put it." This time it was Duke who stopped you from performing a task. "Duke, you don't have to call me by my last name it sounds like you're talking to my husband when you say that. Plus, we're family I don't mind if you want to call me by my first name or anything that's comfortable to you. But if you insist on taking my box can you help bring it to my office."

"This stupid shirt I swear to-" "Is everything alright love?" Your husband asked as he entered the room. "You know I didn't realize how hard it was to put on clothes with a broken arm, sure I've helped you plenty of times but it's never happened to me." You answered. The T-shirt you were currently trying to put on was discarded on the floor leaving your upper half exposed to the sunlight. "Let me help you with that shirt, I know how frustrating it can be to put on clothes with a broken arm." Bruce picked up the shirt and gently pulled it over your head. "Thank you hun," You smiled gratefully at him. "Of course," He replied, kissing you on the temple. "Now, let's make sure the kids haven't already burned the house down by now."
°。°。°。°。°。°。
You grabbed the shopping list and called out to the manor from where you were standing. "Can one of you come downstairs I need to ask something?" At first, no one answered but after a few minutes, you could hear the sound of 2 of your kids running down the stairs. "Ah, thank you Steph and Tim for volunteering." "What did you need?" Steph asked. "Well I needed someone to volunteer to go shopping and it looks like it'll be you two."

You were invited to go and of course, you being one of the current CEOs of the Wayne industry accepted the invite, the rest of the family had their own things to do such as missions and plans leaving Dick to be the only available member to join. Normally, Dick wouldn't go, but because you couldn't defend yourself in case anything happened, he quickly agreed to come.
"You sure you're alright with going? I was sure after the last mission you had you'd want a break?" You asked him as you entered the car. "It's fine tată, plus I don't get to spend much time with you so I want to use this opportunity." He explained to you, with that grin on his face. After all these years it felt like he was still that little boy you met at the circus the night he lost his parents. While those memories will never die and you try your best to honor him the way his parents would've wanted him to be it felt amazing to know he cared. As you entered the gala you looked both at each other and grinned, ready to take on the crowd as Father and Son.

You entered the safe house that Jason and the rest of the "Outlaws" were staying at. The place, as usual, was a bit messy but not enough to be considered a dump, you had asked Cass to drop you off and she happily agreed to, as long as you two stopped at BatBurger which you easily agreed to as you were also craving it. Cassandra was looking at some of the pictures that no doubt Bizarro placed as he was the sentimental one of the bunch. After a few hours, Jason and the rest of them came back to the sight of you and Cassandra holding up bags of food with smiles on their faces.
