i see a lot of people online talking about cleansing negativity or preparing for rituals by taking showers/baths. how do i turn my regular bathing into something witchier?
Ooh great question!
First I am gonna talk about Ritual baths from my understanding of them and then I will talk about some Spellwork bathtime fun!
Ritual Baths
The first thing to note is that a ritual bath is not a regular bath or shower. In a ritual bath, it’s expected that you do not do any actual physical cleaning of yourself, that would be done earlier. (I hope...)
Of course you can use the same “shower” to get it all done, I suggest a break of about 3 or so minutes between regular shower (shaving and scrubbing) and ritual shower/bath
if doing a ritual bath, (meaning filling up the tub) I would honestly recommend doing a short shower to clean yourself, and then filling a tub with ritual bath. The goal here is to cleanse all the dirty nasty stuff from your person. And reusing yucky bathwater probably isn’t the best option. (and for those who will begin worrying about water conservation, I will talk about a Greener ritual bath option in a bit!)
The goal of a ritual bath is to prepare yourself even further for magical workings, Ritual, or just a calming sacred mindset.
You do this through the use of water, essential oils, herbs, flowers, and stones. My most used ingredients are clear quartz, salt, rose petals, lavender, and a nice light fragrance from an essential oil. Mix everything together, apply your energetic intent just as in spellworking, and voila.
I personally do the Green method of ritual bathing, which involves simply making my ritual bath in a large glass serving or mixing bowl, stripping down nude immediately prior to ritual, and sprinkling my mixture on my body, or wiping myself down with a dampened cloth. Not only is it faster, its also much less water waste for one ritual, and a great way to allow a large group to take a ritual bath prior to any group rituals!
Bathtime Spellwork
This is different from a ritual bath, but using the same type of ingredients. The main difference here is purpose and incantation typically.
Some examples of bath spells are:
Envisioning all negativity leaving you as the water rushes down the drain
creating a satchet of corresponding herbs and stones and making your tub a giant cup of tea (obvs not for drinking!)
rinsing your soapy hair out with an infusion of herbs and flowers in order to give yourself some more beauty or self love traits
Drowning your sorrows as you duck your head under water for a few seconds
The list goes on, but those are what I have done in the past.
I hope this is what you were looking for!
Welcome to all my new followers. Hope you enjoy all the things I am sharing. I am trying to make bath magic more popular. I find these posts mostly on tumblr but some on pinterest. I’ll be putting more work into searching for new bath magic ideas. And also shower magic, bathroom magic and other related magical practices since not everyone has a bath tub. If you have any recommendations feel free to hit me up and share. I would welcome it. Or we can just talk.
Somehow, it's always the bathrooms in Dangerous Romance
Went to Walmart for a bunch of donuts because the donut shop by the branch sold out hella early (good for them, love to see a local place thriving!) and I was in the bathroom when I heard "hey, pink nail polish next door..."
That would be me, I think. But I'm not sure...so instead of asking, I wiggle my toes.
"Yes, you."
"Um...yes?"
"Where'd you get that polish? It's cute."
So I told her it was here, it was two dollars, and they still have it. When I came out to wash my hands she also gassed up my outfit even though it's just a library t-shirt and capri leggings.
Ladies restroom solidarity and kindness cannot be matched.
Witch Tip!
Write sigils on your hairbrush so when you brush your hair, you cast them.
Bathroom spell ideas for people that don’t wear makeup
Shave negativity out of your life along with your unwanted hair!
Use aftershave, cologne, perfume, or deodorant for glamours!
Chapstick for health AND glamour magic!
Rub sigils into your skin with baby oil/aftershave/etc.
Fill your sink a little with water, dip your fingers in it, and envision all of your stress flowing into the water... then unstop the sink and let it all flow away.
Spellsongs in the shower for optimal acoustics
I’m thinking about experimenting with bathroom magic. In all seriousness–how great would it be to use a toilet to flush away negative energies or to perform a cleansing? I know I use showers as a regular cleansing of my self and spirit, and I could cleanse the bathroom first by, literally, flushing away all of it’s negative energies. I am serious about this. I’ll let you all know how it goes.
