Bathyphysa Conifera
Alternative common names for Bathyphysa conifera (because I hate its current one):
- Cone Barer (from its taxonomic name conifera)
- Jewel Leek (translation of its Japanese name)
- Lanterneater (it’s been observed eating lanternfish) (I actually like this one a lot)
- Atlantic Angel (from its “wings”, or pteras, that differentiate it from other Rhizophysas)
- Studer’s Spiral (named after marine biologist Théophile Studer, who first wrote about many siphonophores including B. Conifera in 1878, as well as it’s spiral-shaped body)
