57. "Court of Owls"
(Batman Vol 2 # 1 - 7, November 2011-June 2012)
RATING: 8 🕴🏻Alfred Shotguns out of 10
This was so fantastic, I'd love to read more of this era of Batman in the future. I've never known anything about the Owls but my curiosity was definitely piqued during my recent DCAU binge. I think by far it is one of the better additions to ever come to Bat-adjacent stuff. They feel like the best villainous reflection of him that has so far been introduced and the writing on this was fantastic through and through. Also the formatting that required you to spin the book as Bruce gets more and more delusional after a week without sleep or water is so damn immersive and I loved it. The emphasis on detective work and creative problem solving in this really highlighted the things I enjoy most about Batman and now that I've admitted it I can better come to terms with it.
FAVORITE: "I'm the only legend this city needs"
LEAST FAVORITE: I could have been fine with 3-4 days in the Owl Labyrinth but 8 REALLY stressed my suspension of disbelief
