*~OZTOBER 1: Silver Age~*

Dunno how many entries I’ll be able to do this year (school is making things tough lol) but I saw that Oztober was coming around this year, and I wanted to at least make something for the first day! I went all digital last year, but this time I wanna practice more with my water colors!

Drawing a Pengy a day for October, as per the #oztober challenge. Taking some liberties with the prompts for inspiration, but roughly: 1) Silver Age (Batman #169), 2) Golden Age (Batman #43), 3) Bronze Age (Batman #288), 4) Arkham Knight videogame, 5) Penguin and Robin, 6) BTAS (“Second Chances”)

25. JUSTICE LEAGUE ACTION

The blade passed close enough to slice the hairs from his chin, if he'd had any.

"You left!" Oswald growled. "Without a word! I woke up and-"

His anger overrode his power of speech and he lunged again. Ed quickly dodged.

"I meant to call. I swear," he insisted. "But Batman was on my tail. I didn't want him to find me there. To incriminate you," he appended hastily as Oswald growled again. "Falling for you was never part of my plans."

Oswald finally paused.

"Falling for me?"

Ed seized the opening and kissed him.

"Falling for you," he confirmed.

9. BATMAN UNLIMITED

He laid him to rest on his own family plot, the only mourner to stand by his grave and weep. Who else would have come anyway?

“We should have retired to my private island,” Oswald said bitterly. “But this city, this cursed city, gets her claws in you and never let’s go. Like the archetypal American eagle.”

He looked away to the wretched skyline and felt no affinity, only betrayed revulsion.

“Gotham isn’t worth this price. She never was.”

Tendrils of guilt curled at him but he turned those emotions outwards.

“I’ll make them pay,” he promised. “They’ll all pay.”

11. GOTHAM (S1 - S5)

Edward hadn’t expected the knife at his throat. After all they’d been through, he’d thought Oswald would be keen to start over so he hadn’t hesitated in making a move the moment Penn’s body was gone.

“Wha-?”

Oswald looked pityingly at him.

“You think that offer is still on the table?”

“You said you trusted me.”

“Yes, not to betray me without cause. Trusting you with my heart again? My… self? That you’ll need to earn. If it’s even possible after the cruelty you inflicted.”

Despite the knife still at his throat, Ed grinned.

“I always did like a challenge.”

16. GOTHAM (POST 10 YEAR GAP)

He felt as anxious as he had waiting in the limo for Edward. Reminding himself that reunion had gone especially well only made him more anxious. Surely such luck couldn’t last.

Subconsciously he tugged on his waistcoat, smoothing the fabric over his round stomach.

“You look fine Oswald.”

Edward’s blasé tone did nothing to calm him.

“That’s not the problem,” he snapped.

“Then what is?”

“Would he feel abandoned?” Oswald wanted to say but his voice failed as he saw the boy.

The tall figure rushed at him, meeting him in a tight embrace.

“Martín,” he finally breathed in relief.
