‘Someday I need to use the actual door,’ The teen thought as he quietly and quickly slipped through the window into Steve’s room. Jack had kept telling himself that he wouldn’t make a habit of using the window as the entry point instead of the actual door but nearly SEVEN months later and here he is. Window entry has become a HABIT he can’t actually kick.
Spying Steve’s lumpy form moving a bit under the covers, Jack took a second to shut the window and put the latch on. It was just as the soft ‘click’ sounded that he heard Steve’s sleep slurred voice. For one VERY AWKWARD second the teen thought he came in while the other was having one of THOSE dreams but that was discarded when the words registered.
“….s-stop hitting….me… work for…. scoops ahoy…” With each word the sleeping brunet’s voice seemed to get more panicked and Jack quickly approached the bed as the other started to struggle against his duvet.
“Steve! Steve! C’mon, wake up!” He pulled the duvet off him enough so he wouldn’t accidentally strangle himself with it and grabbed at the flailing arms by the wrists to still him. “Harrington, you’re not there anymore! They can’t hurt you!”
It took another try and some shaking but after what felt like a long time, Steve let out a strangled noise as his hazel eyes shot opened and Jack immediately let his wrists go. He sat down at the edge of the bed and kept his hands were the other would be able to see them while Steve sat up, his breathing rough. Jack pretended that he couldn’t see the dampness to his cheeks as the other ran a hand through his disheveled hair.
“U-um–” Eloquent as always, Steve looked around at everything but Jack and took a few gulps of air. “T-thanks, man.”
“Not a problem,” The brunet responded easily, keeping an eye on him. “Wanna play some Uno?”
The relieved look he got along with the nod was his answer.
