“ hey. ” a soft greeting isaac may not have heard through the window. feeling caged and watched, jonathan hurries himself out. he makes excuse not to talk by fussing with his camera – as if there is much to configure for a pointless ghost-hunt; as if he hadn’t already made all needed preparation for the low light environment. then, without warning, the camera is at eye level, and the shutter clicks – a smooth continuous string of motion, capturing the first picture of the night: the main character.
through the viewfinder, isaac stands centre to the composition of layers of muted green. jonathan’s focus shifts, delving into the background, wondering if there were inter-dimensional monsters taking a stroll.
‘ thank you for doing this for me. again, really, this is --- i’m so excited. ‘ boy beams with all the radiance of a dying sun ( he doesn’t really think they’ll capture much ; most photos taken of ghosts were vague and unhinged, proof that only convinced those who already believed --- he didn’t mind that so much, though ). it was an adventure ! fingers run over his knuckles, nerves shaking at his butterfly - caged heart. ‘ could you point the camera over there for a second ? i’m feeling a lot of ghostly energy. ‘
