Sitting on Calvin's bed is a box, hastily wrapped in newspaper. Inside sits an old baseball cap, one of his old ones Selina had taken with her when she moved away, as well as some old pictures depicting two tiny blonde toddlers in matching halloween costumes throughout the years of their childhood. There's not a card, since she couldn't find one on such short notice, but an index card that reads only "whatever, don't get sentimental. ❤"
It’s too late- he’s already way past sentimental. In fact, he really appreciates this. It’s nice to have a reminder of his past, of his home, of his best friend... it’s almost rejuvenating. And to think he was planning on spending his birthday moping.
Smiling, he tapes the pictures up on his wall above his bed, and trades out his cap for the baseball hat. This will do just fine.
