She doesn't feel right leaving the night without any consolation, to leave Whisper in such a state without so much as an apology feels wrong. Granted, this wasn't done at her behest, she played into it, and she encouraged it. She goes to put a hand on Whisper's shoulder, but before contact can be made, she pulled back, simply placing her hand in her jacket pocket. "I'm, so incredibly sorry they said those things to you. You're far from what they claim you are, those words were meant to. . Get a reaction, they have no way of knowing you beyond a surface level—" She paused, another moment of hesitation. "You aren't some monster, again— Sorry." She didn't get the catharsis she wanted, but she turned to leave anyways, she's made her piece known, that's all she can really do here.

    Whisper’s shoulders tense up the moment she hears another voice- but it’s familiar this time. She was more than ready to just sit here and weather the storm on her own- grit her teeth and power through, as she’d always done. 

    She doesn’t turn to face Rouge, but her head rotates slightly towards her She’s got her mask on, she’s huddled up inside her cloak- just sitting out in the night, isolated. Away from everyone. She feels like such a fucking loser. She’d been driven wild, then dropped down to her lowest point- returning to self-hatred with her tail between her legs. Yet, Rouge still came to say something. To apologize, for something she hadn’t really caused as much as she claimed to. At least- she believed so.

    The fault lay squarely with the people who’d taken the situation and made it unfun. But it’s not like they were wrong. She was a killer- she only knew how to touch the world through violence. Romance, friendship, social interactions of any medium- she stumbled through those with the grace of a dead pigeon. Combat is all she knows, now. The bubbly girl that loves to cook is long dead.

    ...But she wants to change. To work on herself. She’s trying... she’s trying so hard. She just needs people to believe in her...

    Whisper slowly shifts around as Rouge is walking away, and pushes her mask to the side of her face- and whether Rouge can hear her or not, she replies, in a soft tone.

    “ . . . Thank you . “

    She’ll try to remember to text her some time. Maybe they can meet- as friends... and try to forget this happened.

          ❛ Don’t touch my ear. ❜ came the soft, low tone of Ultimate Lifeform, ruby eyes settled firmly on the tv in front of him. He was reclining on Rouge’s couch, seeming to have been zoning out. When he was like this, it was like a statue of Shadow existed. He barely breathed and his eyes didn’t really blink. It was kind of unsettling, if Shadow knew that was the case.

          Shadow reclined his head back to look up at the bat. ❛ Did you say something to me? ❜
