Her eyes widened in shock, immediately stiffening as she stared at him. Was he being serious? Her  cheeks began to take on a subtle pink tint, and she was at a slight loss on what to say— Mikasa hadn’t even thought about how she felt about him yet, much less considered any feelings of love.

                      “You… love me?”

She repeated, as if to confirm the statement. Maybe she’d misheard him, it didn’t hurt to check.

        The words are barely audible, for they are just a hissed grumble murmured behind thin, pale lips. The two trainees had hardly spoken, but that factor was no surprise; most who were smart tended to avoid the stoic blonde.

         Cryptic as her message may be, only she knows the true, concealed meaning within her words. Mikasa wants something from her, but she doesn't wish to speak--- not now, in any case. But her conscience, it tugs at her incessantly; perhaps she should give the poor girl a chance. 

          Pale, delicate hands resting side by side on the table, the blonde turns her head to face the other young woman. For some strange reason, her previous words seem to contradict her inner thoughts; under different circumstances, she can see themselves as possible and probable friends. But she had a duty to fulfill. But in her eyes, it was more of a burden than anything.

                                      "I'm sorry. Was there something you wanted?"
