I am so tired.
So on Thursday morning my husband and I caught a ride with some friends and headed into Boston. We got to our hotel, checked in, dropped our bags in our room and by 11am we were in the convention center, helping to build a 10x40' booth for our local game store. We put up shelves and tables stocked them with games, made room for everything we could and then I played booth tetris under the tables, stashing every last copy of Sheriff of Nottingham, Splendor, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Imperial Assault, Cash and Guns and oh so much Uncanny X-Men Dicemasters and X-Wing minis. Around 8pm we were mostly done and headed for food.
Then we spent the weekend at PAX East, demoing games until there were no games left to demo. Seriously. We sold out of Sheriff. We sold out of Splendor. We sold out of Betrayal. We sold out of Boss Monster. Then we sold the demo copies at a discount. We learned new games so we could demo things we hadn't planned on demoing. We emptied the spaces under the tables. By yesterday afternoon the spaces under the tables had Dicemasters and X-Wing and empty boxes. We broke down the booth in about an hour. There was so little to pack at the end.
We had an amazing time. We hung out and played games with amazing people. We went in early and left late and were happy to do it because we were having so much fun. We got to see folks we haven't seen since last year and when it was over I came close to crying. Thank you to the awesome people who came by and played games with our ridiculously huge demo crew. Thank you to the ridiculously huge demo crew for being amazing. And most of all, thank you to Battleground for giving us a place to do what we love doing amongst fantastic people and a place to go back to for the rest of the non-PAX year.
