batwatch: wtf is mei doin (also dragon symmetra)(is it a ship? it might be)

for batwatch shenanigans ive been mega mega stuck on how to handle victor fries but i think i have it figured out. it was either gonna be reaper, morrison or mei. its gotta be mei. vom under cut. 

so picture it. a plucky crew of climatologists and scientists. while working on a secluded experiment, something goes horribly wrong - a sickness, or a malfunction or a parasite even. They dont have enough resources to wait it out and settle in cryo chambers to wait it out. OFC most of them are contaminated by whatever went down (im thinking a sabotaged experiment leading them to get infected by Nasty Shit)

Cue mei waking up years later, less affected or immune to aforementioned Nasty Shit, but left altered by overexposure to Wierd Cool Plot Shit. So theres the need for the cold lab and coolant suit. after waking, her whole focus is finding a way to save her friends, but between the temperature factors and a probably legal mess and Plot Convenience, Mei becomes a sort of independent/neutral faction. 

Mei, in her search, resorts to various and potentially skeevy means to find the root of how and who and why the experiment went so wrong, and probably doesn’t really have followers like hanzo or symmetra (if she does, theyre probably just couriers and informants or the occasional borrowed bodyguard this bitch is tight with most of the bad guy lineup). Both the trade/theft of tech/confidential plans/data and the fact that shes one of the most well informed of the ‘villains’ on what the other villains’ deals are . 

theres def been some business between her and hanzo  (i wanna say bc of how hard shes trying to save her crew being hella honorable to him but lbr the guy is lonelier than a 7th grader not having wifi for the first time), and she may have tried to make a deal for some of the immortal lemon lime gatorade. takes a bit of scuffling and a lot of philosophical barking and a Cowboy Cooldown Hug but she gradually becomes Batwatch’s most powerful ally. 

AS FOR SYMMETRA.  Because I love the fucking lazarus pit plot device because its SUCH BULLSHIT like it should be law in gotham to ban anything drinkable and bright green. thats a third of batmans problems there. fuckin evil limeade.  ANYWAYS. starts out as normal symmetra, with her crush on a cute scientist,  normal gotham levels of corporate mob villainy and whatnot. has her arrangement with hanzo goin, and she gets an offer to join him in immortality.  of course its BS and tampered with and she ends up drinking a fucked up cocktail of immortality with fuckin lizard dna in it and gets all scaly and snarly. dragon symmetra starts taking over the old gotham underground,still wanting to clean gothams slate and rebuild it as something clean and beautiful but now she’s just going to watch it burn down. as for mei? either being able to regenerate herself lets her survive the cold or her lizardness makes it so theyll never touch again unless mei’s cured idk.

so i have some nerve wracking shit today (not bad stuff though) and im gonna smother the worry with dicking around with a batman/overwatch AU. so far i got 

the shimadas use the lazarus pit. genji wants to dick around and be more mortal. hanzo is split between chillin as a mortal and Everlasting Power And Life With Which To Rebuild an Empire

bruce wayne and his associated bat crew is blackwatch  - starts with reaper (im thinking of him being an ex cop/ex detective who everyone thinks is dead, and basically like an edgier version of The Spirit). He adopts a kids off the street, one a semi immortal runaway (with a lot of wierd scars and bandages and anger issues) and the other a teenager already too deep in gang life. tldr reaper is our bat and mccree and genji  are the robins [and have a strong, loving platonic rivalry once genji cools his jets]

also you  can pry my stream of consciousness typing from my cold dead hands because i just realized the timeline literally works out i a way that would have hanzo and genji from the feudal era, so you have a 5-6 hundred year old undead samurai with no friends, a brother who is still debating whether or not he wants to kill him, and several hundred gallons of Immortality Limeade

also Symmetra has her own faction and has a basic deal with hanzo - she helps him with tech and electronic security measures and keeps him more up to date, he helps train her underlings/followers.
