She Dark (poem)
Dark skin women are beautiful.
say they love the skin that they are in,
dashiki wrapped, kinte cloth,
speaks of Africa, enjoys everything black,
on the cover of vibe magazine
but those facebook filters, they be wearing,
be giving off caucasian vibes... as if closer to white, is better.
know damn well, you're blacker than that. Eye've done seen you under the light, how the skin that you're in,
burnt like what keeps the sun lit, made you the envy of most women,
how that black on your flesh, tastes like the underground railroad, how the charcoal in your voice echoes discipline, stands a room upright, and commands attention.
sista. Eye've done seen you sweat, like a wet hematite stone, in the center of mecca, you were made holy...
realer than hollywood, you are the brightest star, sometimes you shoot down to earth, just so the world could see, what that bling came from. a raw rock.
shining brighter than a diamond, with no light.
so bright, you make a full figured moon, look good
dark skin woman... the sun can't shine without you.
