Cuban Makel Zamora began his sermon telling the story of his minister who taught him what it means to sacrifice for others - the primary theme of Mark 8: 31-38. This minister travels 20 miles early in the morning in an old bicycle to preach at 9 am, to then travel another 20 miles to preach in another congregation. He frequently bikes 40 miles just to find juice for the Lord Supper. A Mission Sunday Unlike Any Other! Every year Memorial Road Church has a Sunday to emphasize their mission works. So this year with COVID they organized a parking lot drive-through. 11 displays from 5 continents and 14 nations were set up by over 100 volunteers. Norm and Denise Easter and Debbie Carter made up a fantastic miniature Baxter arch and brought in antique cars, a trademark of Cuba. Dianna and I along with eight Baxter students and two families of graduates in our Cuban mission team were on ZOOM on the big screen. We waved to 200 cars passing by filled with families from MRCC. ”Verse” Evangelism. Last night we had 3 freshman couples over for supper. Due paperwork they two Cuban arrived three months late. Each of them sold everything they had to be able come to Baxter - incredible sacrifice! Yordano, a Cuban, shared how an elderly Christian neighbor would hand him a slip of paper with a Bible verse on it every day he left for work. He would not read them, but throw them away ... but one day he read one, and it was just what he needed. He then went to small group Bible study that led to his baptism, confirming Paul’s words written on the slip, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans‬ ‭8:28‬. The Total Package. The Sorí Family do it all. The boys, Kevin and Brihan, have excelled in their bilingual school. During PAM, their five-month internship, Nelkys served in multiple ways at the La Vega Church, most notably with her ministry to their women. Henry has done personal evangelism, baptized, preached, taught classes, visited members, and ... We will hate to see them go upon graduation in December, but Cuba beckons where they form a mission team with 2017 graduates Dianelys and Yosbel Sorí (Henry’s cousin). #baxterpam #baxterinternship #baxtercuba

Different Location - Same Life-Changing Message. Yosbel and Dianelys Sorí blessed lives while in Baxter and now are sharing the saving Gospel message in Cuba. They are presently working alongside the Baxter mission team in Güines, Cuba They hope to form another team once the Henry and Nelkys Sorí graduate in December 1, 2018 and return to Cuba. #baxtercuba #baxtermissionteams (at Baxter Institute)
