Seven years ago a freshmen from the Dominican Republic stopped to tell me all about her dental experience at our clinic, teeth cleaning and cavities filled. She excitedly added, “And it was free; it did not cost me anything!” These two photos are of a student and her daughter from Cuban just yesterday. Many in Latin America have very limited medical and dental care. When an incoming freshmen arrives he is given a physical and medical/dental chart is made up on the student. Baxter aspires to care for the student’s spiritual and physical well-being during their four years here. I didn’t have the heart to tell the Dominican that her dental work was not for free; you donors make it possible that the student doesn’t have to pay for the service.
