Third-year student Karen Seong wrote last night, “Just a few months away from finishing our third year at Baxter! There is no doubt that time passes quickly, teachings and anecdotes remain in our minds and hearts. But the best of all is the feeling you have is having met great brothers, and friends.” Karen and her husband, Jhonatan are from Mexico where Jhonatan studied and obtained an university degree in psychology. It was a Friday afternoon(7/24); classes were over for the day, and it was on to the soccer court. We honor these single students! Unable to return to their families with this quarantine, they continue their Bible and ministry studies at Baxter. So what are you missing while in quarantine? LLAMAS Third year student, Cristhian Yubillo shares, “You all see me calm, but I'm worried about how my llamas are doing. This is my memories of wonderful moments in Ecuador.” So not to be outdone, second year student, Abel Chafla, also from Ecuador responded, “Well, these are my llamas.” This humorous Facebook exchange between two Ecuadorian students emphasizes multi-national makeup of our fantastic student body. We presently have 9 nations represented at Baxter. “For those who don’t know me, I am the president of Baxter.” That was my ‘tongue in cheek’ opening to my chapel message via ZOOM to our student body. It’s been way too long. I am so proud of these men, women and their children. With the strict national lockdown they haven’t left our campus in nearly 4 months. Third-year student Marlon Úbeda works in the library while the school’s librarian Yolanda Fuentes is quarantined to her home. Students are quarantined to Baxter.
