Baxter in Its Setting. In the distance are homes built on the side of a small mountain. The city of 1.7 million inhabitants is all around us … and many are in need. The young men playing soccer in the background emphasize our mission to individuals that will hopefully forge a Christian future. The tall palms place us in our tropical setting in Latin America. Two more beautiful arches at Baxter. They will make for a gran entrance to the school. In less than a month the work will be completed, Lord willing. Come celebrate their inauguration with us. We are really ready for this - COVID has made this an eighteen construction project. We are most thankful to donors, the architect and engineer work of Melissa Calix and Fernando Izaguirre, and the direction of foreman Alfonso Gutierrez. This is where things happen at Baxter, where plans are made, and where we continue to prepare men and women for the ministry. Thirty years ago in an ambitious campaign raised a million dollars to construct the "Harris Lee Goodwin" building, better known as the "administration" building. It was inaugurated on October 20, 1991. Classrooms are located on the second level; the computer lab, the library are on the third level; and the auditorium or chapel is on the fourth level. Two years ago the offices and reception on the first level were renovated. "Cafeteria". As we've said, most places in Baxter are named after a person or group, and this is no exception. The real name of “La Cafetería” is “Edificio, Damas de Baxter”, this building was inaugurated in 1992 and during all these years it has been one of the places where single students prefer to be. Is this because that is where they prepare? Delicious food? Perhaps that is the reason ... The building was named in honor of the "Damas de Baxter" which is an organization created by sisters of the Churches of Christ in the United States, with the purpose of helping Baxter both financially and spiritually. The amphitheater was inaugurated in 2012 and was named in honor of our brother Armando Pacheco for his dedication to the institution and to the churches of Christ in Honduras. This space has hosted area-wide worship services, Baxter’s lectureships, youth rallies, graduation ceremonies, etc., and currently due to the pandemic, most of the students receive classes in this place thanks to its space and air flow. The multipurpose court is one of the places where students come to take time off, rest, and play. Not only students spend time here. This soccer/baseball/volleyball/basketball court has been the setting for different activities like the Baxter Youth Rally/Retreat. Christian teens and young adults from numerous countries come and participate in spiritual growth activities and have fun. This court was inaugurated in 2003.
