Ramiro Lainez Challenged Us with 2018 School Theme. Ramiro, his wife, Claudia, and son Josías are loved and appreciated for their genuine Christian lives, warmth and many kindnesses to others. This Nicaraguan family has been asked to work with Mission Upreach in Santa Rosa de Copán upon graduation in December. Four graduates and their families have been working there for over 7 years. The Baxter experience produces mission teams. Every Tuesday at 6 PM the freshman have a weekly devotional. This week Jhon James spoke about the importance of being supportive of each other as Christians and fellow students. After the devo, they did an activity showing the power of unity. #baxterstudents2018 (at Baxter Institute)

Meet first-year student Cristhian Yubillo from Ecuador. After tragedy struck his family and their congregation in Ecuador, Cristhian, who was 9 years old at the time, and his 2 brothers stepped up and became the leaders of their church. At the beginning, he was in charge of the children, but with time he fulfilled whatever needs arose. He is still a leader of the same congregation today and is at Baxter with the hope of becoming better equipped to help it grow both spiritually and numerically. He also hopes to evangelize in his community and surrounding communities in the future. Currently he is enjoying his time at Baxter and is already excited to share the knowledge he has gained in his first few months with the people back home. Cristhian’s greatest role model is his mother, and in his free time he loves to watch and play soccer. #baxterstudents2018 #baxterecuador (at Baxter Institute)

The Cubans are here! The first-year couples from Cuba arrived just two weeks ago and were greeted by their fellow first-year students with a welcome party and some advice for beginning their new journey here at Baxter. Getting to Know The Single Men. Dianna once again prepared her best desserts, and opened our home for the new single men. They come Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Ecuador. They like the married couples told their stories from 6 - 11 pm. One told how his congregation in Ecuador fasted twice as he raised funds to come. A Guatemalan shared how his family walked two hours to attend worship services and another two hours to return home. What amazing faith!#baxterstudents2018 (at Baxter Institute)

Getting to Know You. As traditions go, every year Dianna prepares her best desserts, and opens the home for a night to visit with our new students. Last night five married couples and four children from Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, and Colombia told their stories until 11 pm. Five have college degrees and one has already been in full time ministry. Pray for three families in Venezuela and Cuba who are yet to arrive, waiting on paperwork. #baxterstudents2018 #baxtertraditions

First Worship for 20 of the 27 Freshmen. The tradition is to worship with the La Vega Church which first worshiped on Baxter’s campus in 1978 soon after Baxter moved to Tegucigalpa.
