Who felt this way when waking up this morning? Whose child didn't nap yesterday? How many went out for trick or treating last night? How are teachers dealing with kids day-after Halloween? What have you done with the 3 lbs of kids' loot last night? 😋
A few more hours 'til our kids put on their cute fancy costumes! What will your kids be this Halloween? 🧚👑
A comprehensive daycare and preschool online search engine.
When my first child was born, my husband and I thought that it was financially-manageable on our side to have me stay home for a year with our child. We did not have any major debts and cost of living back then was comparatively lower than it is today. Surviving on a single income was doable for our family so we decided to go for it in exchange for our daughter receiving 1 on 1 care and attention from me.
Long story short, I truly enjoyed my life as a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM). I had the chance to take my child to Target, libraries, play-dates, parks, try out new recipes at home, create things, build memories with my child daily and last but not least, to make breastfeeding journey more possible than not. Of course there were also challenging days with being a SAHM. I was constantly drained of physical and mental energy trying to keep up with the unending attention and demands coming from my child and other household responsibilities going on literally ALL DAY. A SAHM job is the type of job that receives very little appreciation, recognition and validation despite of all the sacrifices you make and the endless hours being “clocked-in”. To all SAHMs out there, I wanted to remind you today - what a selfless and wonderful thing you are doing for your family. You’re changing the world one-child at a time! Working moms also need to give themselves a pat on the back at the end of each day. Juggling career and parenting responsibilities can humble even the strongest of women.
Fast forward 1.5 years later, I finally felt ready and whole to get back to work. I know that I would dearly miss all the things I always did with my child on a day-to-day basis. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and started looking for childcare for the first time ever and said, “I can do this”.
When searching online, I stumbled upon the options of hiring private nannies, nanny-shares, baby-sitters, au pair care, family daycare and commercialized infants and preschool centers. Since it was my first time searching for childcare, I was overwhelmed with all these options. Being a perfectionist in nature, I was hoping to find the best care I can for my child, with the decent monthly budget I had in mind.
For one, it was hard to figure out who I can trust to hand-over my 1.5 year old to. And two, I did not have the luxury of time to do a thorough research on each childcare entity as my perfectionist nature had wanted to. But I did anyway. I sacrificed a couple hours of sleep at night so I could have more internet-research time to shortlist the candidates I thought looked good on paper. I sent them inquiry emails at night and used day-times to follow-up with phone calls. It was a very lengthy and and nevertheless stressful process. Anyone who's ever needed to find childcare knows the struggles involved in finding the right care for your child.
Because of my own struggles, DaycareHero.com was born. It’s made by a parent for other parents. My hope is to alleviate the pain and stress in finding daycares and preschools for your little ones.
