Three point quick release. Had a conversation with a student the other day about when to shoot the ball. Defensive positioning comes down to where the defender's feet are, and how their hips are positioned. Their stance gives away your "momentary" advantages- a foot forward gives you a lane to drive, while the perpendicular line from their feet leaves the biggest shot opening. There are three quick reads that are necessary to start- first, is where the defender is when you catch the ball. If they're unfamiliar with your game, they'll usually leave enough space for the shot (until they begin to respect your shot and close out higher). If they're too far down, start balanced and release your shot. If they close out too fast, read their front foot and determine your attack. If they challenge your shot, pump fake and choose from open options. Next, is the dribble- to the shot. Watch as the defender "sleeps" during repetitive dribbling. Their heels sink to the ground, and they lose their momentary advantage. Another reaction to read, is when they close the gap while you retreat. Their forward movement should be countered with an attack- making it extremely hard for them to recover. Next video will discuss the options of the drive. #basketballvideographer #basketballaddiction #bballshootingcoach #bballcoach #basketballcoach #igbasketball #getbucketseveryday #th3op3rator #basketballvideos @thebest_shous @_rayfernandez @josepepeja @dennisjikim @francethefoodie (at Carmel Mountain Ranch, San Diego) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2UeBMbAvqx/?igshid=1ddltq1iyz7h9
