Ahh.. I love me some Solar angst
Welcome to my Boboiboy rantingsimping post-
Today I will ranttalk about Boboiboy's power. (No offense to other characters but my bias is Boboiboy so-)
I am a fan of OP power with right consequences and Boboiboy's power is one.
What is the consequences of Boboiboy's Elemental Power you say? It's the fact that his power link to his emotions, his mental state, his obsessions and desires. Powers act on those things always bound to have consequences. Taufan and Api first appearances are examples. When Boboiboy gets too emotional, his powers get out of control is one of my favorite aspect of his power.
(On another note: Api first manifestation is still my favourite first tier elemental appearance. The process of his manifestation and appearance was so natural and well excuted. Fire arc is my favorite arc after all.)
Next is his Splitting move. The another thing OP about Boboiboy is that he, himself can be considered as a one-man army. He already can play many roles with his various elements. He also can split into those selective roles and make combination team with his Elemental selves. That is very OP right. He literally can solo all the time if his splitting doesn't have limit. But of course, his splitting has limitations and drawbacks. First thing is that the Elemental selves don't always get along and work together smoothly. I like the philosophy aspect of the fact that Elemental selves don't get along. Human are complicated and contradicting creatures. We're always fighting ourselves when making decisions, aren't we? Boboiboy Elemental selves are like that too. They represent a certain parts of Boboiboy and they fight each other.
Next is forgetting. If he splits for too long, his Elemental selves will start to lose memory and forget that they're all the same person. Juicy, isn't it? Here's the funny thing. Boboiboy gets more powerful when he isn't really himself. When he is overwhelmed with an emotion, his power is stronger (Taufan). When he forgets who he really is, his power is stronger (Halilintar). See, he gets more powerful but- he is also out of control. And we all saw the consequences of both cases: He almost killed his friends and Tok Aba.
(On another note: Halilintar first appearance is my favorite second tier elemental appearance and my favorite plot of Boboiboy is 'split and forget'.)
Next is a headcanon of mine but I have been wonder about Boboiboy's power watch and the fact that striping it away will leave him powerless. Unlike Retak'ka and other former Elemental users, Boboiboy's Elementals Power is not carried by himself but is carried in his watch. My headcanon is that his human body is not strong enough to handle the Elementals power raw, especially when he has like 7 Elementals. That's why he still need the power watch.
(This leads to my another question. Have the Kokotaim team never... tried to switch watches to try other powers? Like if the watches are not designed specifically for only one user then why not switch temporary and try other powers? If it's me, I will definitely try to do that. Also, is the Elemental Split a power watch only move or Boboiboy only move?)
This is getting a little too long... cough I will end it here. Thank you for coming to my tedranttalk. See you again soon.
"Beri laluan! Panas! Panas! Kari ayam Tok Aba dah sampai!"
Last night I was overcome with the desire to draw these two dorks immediately, haha
There is...so much going on with BBB Frostfire's clothes that adding on Todoroki's two-toned hair just- yeah. It...sorta looks okay? The heterochromia on both of them is also a thing I just noticed while coloring.
I tried making Boboiboy a bit shorter, though not quite sure how obvious it is with Todoroki hunched over a bit and Boboiboy sitting a little straighter.
I can't, for the life of me, seem to remember how to draw Boboiboy's boots. Or watch, for that matter.
What's going on in Tok Kasa's head in BBBM2 : I'm not gonna let a kid get hurt for my fight
What's going on in BBB's head during Tok Kasa and Retak'ka's fight : I'm not gonna let an elderly get hurt for something that's my fault
Amato, not a kid or a senior citizen: lol berdikari
Not tweets, but I thought I'd share some gifs I made from the bbbm2 trailer!
BoBoiBoy Elemental Observation
Had BoBoiBoy gain access to all 7 elemental forms at once to begin, I suppose THAT's when he would have a psychological breakdown.
The original 3 forms weren't too drastically different to begin with.
Fire and Water was when BoBoiBoy had some issues and they could represent his subconscious thoughts as a result of his constant heroics. Fire wanting to vent out as a result of his stress while Water just wanted to ignore his responsibilities. Once he had those issues taken care off, Fire and Water become part of the more conscious side of things.
Leaf and Light however are two different sides of him that are more subtle (his more naive side and his more intelligent side). BoBoiBoy doesn't suffer from specific issues that has them act too differently but at least with Leaf the naive nature was exaggerated to the point of seemingly being innocent and pure. Leaf just sort of took over as a result of BoBoiBoy being knocked out (which sort of explains why Leaf seems partially unaware of what's going on in his first appearance).
Not to mention, BBB has done the Triple Split many times prior to even Fire showing up that he has likely gotten used to the mental weirdness that could have come as a result. He has come to embrace the differences of himself.
(Ani)Monsta Evolution 2009-2019
Sad that they don't include BoBoiBoy Season 2/3 bcuz Season 3 (The Movie version) is my favorite model so far
