New stills of Billie Piper in Collateral
I don't know if kip glaspie was pregnant cos Carey was when filming but it's just so refreshing to see a woman's pregnancy as incidental to her main storyline? Like women do their jobs when they're pregnant all the time and yet tv wants to turn all wombs into sources of drama
“Collateral” is streaming on Netflix today!
What kind of monster throws a perfectly good pizza on the floor? How could you Karen? Are you the one behind this whole thing? I don't think I can trust you after that.
Does anyone want to hear me make dr who jokes about collateral?
Also some random observations
Carey looks so hot in this I'm willing to forgive her for that terrible accent in suffragette.
Don't trust John Simm as a politician like ever lol
They named a political party? That's not very bbc of u guys
Lol no why wd u do rose and the master like... That's irresponsible casting even if they are great in the roles
Hayley Squires deserves to be a super star I'm just waiting for the day
It looks very fashionable even if the dialogue is a bit lazy
//WOOOOW all the new John Simm stuff was SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
Collateral is a dry nuanced political thriller that engages the issues of Syrian refugeeism very saliently.
And features John shirtless:
playing a Labor Party Shadow Cabinet member who is an amazing dad and good person @_@ <3
And Trauma. Whoa MAN Trauma.
John is mesmerizing, terrifying, like a collapsing star with his rage and resentment and grief, pulling out all the stops as his strength--the edgy, sympathetic antagonist--while Adrian Lester plays opposite as a loving father who internalizes all the pressures at work, who may have made a fatal mistake, but is also a good human being. Dying for more!
//Is it okay if I say that I find the end of Collateral oddly incomplete?
Who else saw it that I can talk with?
About the only thing I was satisfied with was David’s ending, which was wonderful, and I guess the fact that the sister who was raped in Iraq got to have her child safely was really nice, but I guess I wanted more for Kip and for Sandrine. I wanted Sandrine to be given help. And my God, the priest’s ending was agonizing, and I guess I’m tired of seeing LGBT couples split up with tragic endings.
Perhaps that’s the point of the whole ending though. To raise awareness for the trauma suffered by all the separate groups of people affected by the fucked up globla refugee situation, from soldiers to illegals who are desperate for solace to civilians struggling with coping-mechanism addictions to their children to police officers to government officials and civic leaders (including religious leaders) who have to choose between practical efficacy and personal ideals.
Perhaps that’s the point of the title: so many people are collateral of that unending war.
I am still really sad and haunted, but maybe that’s what the showrunners wanted. To galvanize a feeling of unfulfillment, and therefore action.
@pantherpause @sallysparrowtimetravels I know you both saw it, what do you think?
// Eeeeeeeeeeee.... Kip! Eeeeeeeeeeeee....x infinity //
//She’s fantastic. Possibly my favorite character, tied with David and the priest.
