As the tags suggest, this is complete and utter fluff, although it *is* a hurt/comfort bingo fill, so of course there is a teeny bit of angst and hurt. But only a teeny bit, honest.

I knew as soon as I saw the prompt that I was probably going to do something involving Icarus, but I just couldn't face writing that much angst with a post-series 2 fic, so I made a wallpaper instead. Still angsty, but not so much wallowing and boys failing to communicate properly, which I think qualifies as a win!

Powered through the second half of s2 of BBC Atlantis yesterday. This morning when I remembered the Icarus/Pythagoras kiss I couldn’t believe I didn’t dream it (I mean, I did dream about it, but I didn’t dream it). That relationship was like 90% of my motivation for watching s2 but I was expecting so much less than what I got. I thought it was going to be a one-episode, just-below-the-surface subtext type deal. And I thought Icarus was going to die. Instead, there was a four-episode buildup, full of physical contact, longing looks, and heartbreak, all much less ambiguous than I expected. When Hercules said that line like “I remember what it’s like the first time you feel that way about someone,” I realized that they were really going there. But I still thought it was going to be a tragic thing where Icarus would have to die for forgiveness, and Pythagoras would be left going “oops I should have forgiven him and kissed him while I had the chance.” That’s what I was expecting until the moment Pythagoras realized Icarus was still alive. Then we got the forgiveness and then they literally kissed?!?!?! I watched it 3 or 4 times and I was freaking out?!?!?! It’s like they finally followed through on the promise they made when they had Jason meet Pythagoras by falling on top of him. And then I assumed that Icarus would die happy but in the next scene he’s literally alive?!?!

What a subversion of Bury Your Gays! They introduced a character who the audience was going to expect to die, set up romantic attraction between him and another man, threw a wrench in the relationship (is that an acceptable use of that expression?), pretended he was dead—and then he’s alive and reconciled with his beloved and kissing him! I wish there was a third season solely because I wish there was more of this storyline. But at least the ending we got was a happy one for Icarus and Pythagoras. A happy ending! For a gay couple! On a PG show! However mediocre many aspects of this show were (JASON), this was awesome and I am a Happy Thing because of it.

tl;dr the Gays are on all the shows nowadays, including family shows, and sometimes they even get to be happy, and it is a Wondrous Development
