Dan McGolpin, Controller Daytime, today announces his vision for Daytime and new Commissions for BBC One.
New shows for daytime BBC include a brand new antiques quiz show, For What It’s Worth, and a brand new 25-part series of The Edge – the gameshow will also roll back on with a new host, TV presenter and BBC Sport broadcaster Gabby Logan. And BBC One has exclusive access to the front-line police units seeking out the most dangerous fugitives to bring the series Fugitives: Home And Abroad from the BBC Features and Daytime team in Wales.
London Mela on the BBC
Yasser (Asian Network) looked ahead to some of the new artists playing at this year’s London Mela – Europe’s largest outdoor South Asian Festival. BBC One has revealed the cast of brand new mystery drama series The Living And The Dead.
Colin Morgan (best known for his roles in Humans, Merlin, and The Fall) will play the lead role of Nathan Appleby in the new original six part series eerie mystery. Charlotte Spencer (Glue, Stonemouth, Line Of Duty), stars as Charlotte Appleby, Nathan’s wife.
This is a drama steeped in the eeriness of the rural world at the moment when the industrial revolution came crashing in to disrupt all the old certainties. Nathan and Charlotte Appleby are deeply in love with each other but put under extraordinary pressure, they will have to fight to save their marriage and their home.
Commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, and Ben Stephenson, previous Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning, The Living And The Dead is a BBC Wales Drama production in association with Monastic Productions and co-produced with BBC America. It will be distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.
