Eddie as art historian

Good news for those who haven’t watched (or want to see again) the fascinating documentary, “War Art With Eddie Redmayne.” It’s now available on BBC Select, a streaming channel available on different platforms (including Apple+ and Amazon Prime Video in the U.S.)

This documentary, produced by Margy Kinmonth for Foxtrot Films, is a rare look at Eddie’s deep knowledge of and passion for art and is a testament to his skill as a presenter and interviewer. It’s beautifully photographed at several locations, including battlefields and sites in the area depicted in “Birdsong,” the World War I drama in which he starred.

And we even get a glimpse of Eddie painting and playing the piano.

Most of all, it’s a compelling look at the role of artists who go to the front lines to bring the stark realities of war to the masses, and to their contributions to propaganda and to actual battle strategy.
