What the hell is Gritty

Ah hello there! I was honestly wondering how quickly someone would ask. 😅

Alrighty, SO! Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has sports teams, of course. Gritty is the newest mascot for Philadelphia's hockey team, the Flyers. Now let me get this straight, Gritty, was 1000% universally hated by all of Philadelphia and the surrounding tri-state area (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware) since there is a love of Philly teams in these three states. I honestly don't know how, but we all loved him within like, a week. We accepted him as our nightmare-fuel son and the love for Gritty was born.

Cut to when Trump said, "Bad things happen in Philadelphia" a while back, so #1 tick if him insulting Philadelphia. #2 tick of him insulting Philadelphia was him saying that the entire city is corrupt which, ya just don't do that to Philly. People born and raised, or currently living in Philly are a very proud people and you 100% will know it. You insult Philly and get two reactions:

#1. They take it as a compliment And/Or #2. Quote on quote “Fuck around and find out”

So that is where the memes of Gritty have come from. Basically taking our nightmare-fuel son/Lord and Savior and making fun of the President.

From someone that lives close to Philly her whole life, I find it extremely funny that Gritty is being covered by international news. It’s fucking hilarious to me.

Heeey! How are your WIPs going?

🥺 this just made my morning Hal thank you!!

But they're going okay, all things considering! I've got two main projects currently, my urban fantasy series and the new psychological thriller literary historical fiction mish-mash 😂

I put Operation Eclogues on pause so I could outline Where the Blackbirds Roost in full, but I want to start getting back into it soon, since I'm almost at 10K for that one and four chapters in. I'm around 4 or 5K and starting chapter 3 for WtBR trying to get a feel for the characters, setting etc.

I've found the latter story a bit more challenging to Get Into because I had a mindset where I was writing it in the modern day for two and a half months and then I looked at it and went 😬🙃 because the setting was all wrong. It didn't feel right.

Operation Eclogues has the corner market in my brain for 1980s sarcastic, bisexual private detectives and it didn't want to share.

So we moved it. And it works very well. I'm just trying to reconcile those changes in my writing brain, so it will take a bit but I'm getting there!

Hello! Who is your favourite oc and why

That’s a hard question! But a good one. I guess the short answer is I don’t have one? I know that sounds like such a cop out, but I have put so much time and effort into all of my characters, and picking a favorite one just isn’t possible. HOWEVER. The OC that is probably the most special to me is Bex, from Lost Girls. She was the first character I created for Lost Girls, so I have a special attachment to her. I created her during a very rough patch in my life, and I feel like she and I have been through a lot and grown a great deal together. She is absolutely one of my best friends.
