Title: Strongest High Priestess?
I saw a post earlier where some fans were saying Morgause and Nimueh were more powerful than Morgana, and that just doesn’t match what we actually see in the show.
In the later seasons, Merlin still believes he’s just a human sorcerer, and he openly admits that Morgana’s magic keeps growing to the point where he’s afraid she could eventually be stronger than him.
By the finale, we learn that this fear isn’t really justified, because in the Crystal Cave Merlin discovers that he isn’t simply a sorcerer at all. He is magic itself.
Even so, Morgana is still the only High Priestess Merlin ever truly feared might overpower him. By that point in the series, he had already proven he was stronger than both Morgause and Nimueh.
And this isn’t just interpretation. The official Merlin special cards back it up. Merlin’s magic is ranked at 50, which is the highest possible level. Morgana’s is 49, Morgause’s is 46, and Nimueh’s is 42
