hey so im a rising soph. my tentative schedule is: ap calc bc, ap cs, robo 1/2, whg2, english 10, chem 1, plus hpe 10. i think my hard classes will be bc plus chem, maybe whg2 or english but u cant prep for those, so what are some resources i can use to prep for those? also, is the rumor that ur math 4 grade is an estimate of what u'll get in bc accurate? ty for being so helpful!
For BC, they really like to hit the ground running with limits, so if you could brush up on that last limits unit from Math 5 (esp. clever ways of evaluating nasty-looking limits and sometimes those graphical ones can be tricky if they want compositions of functions?) that would definitely be a good idea! Khan Academy or Paul’s Online Math Notes would probably help in general for that or for other miscellaneous things throughout the year, in addition to the textbook (Early Transcendentals 10th? ed., by Anton, Bivens, and Davis).
Chem might depend on who you end up getting... but I guess I could supply some summer chem advice that might apply to people generally getting into chem for the first time! At some point, you should definitely learn by heart the most common polyatomic ions/elements used and their chemical formulas -- and there are probably lists out there you can search up on quizlet/in the Study Guide Group on Facebook? This is just immensely useful when you get into doing reactions and stuff later.
I think even the teachers use your Math 4 grade sometimes to recommend whether or not you should be taking BC the following year! The reason is because the pace of learning things in BC is sorta similar to the speed at which they throw new things at you in Math 4... which I think is generally accurate!
