This is a note for me specifically, because i open tumblr enough to see this.

- Limits and how it pertains to graphing

okay limits lesson part 2

welcome back to the scp guy who also loves math channel

today is the second part of the limits lesson (using formulas this time) (kind of)

yay math time go

in part one we covered how to find limits using graphs, but i dont think i actually gave notes to write down so here (yeah my handwriting is bad im gonna alt text it)

okay now here is a practice question (don’t worry, we’re doing it together, step by step)

so here they’ve given us a table with the x’s and the y-values. we’re looking for the limit as we get closer to -3.

in some cases, you can use direct substitution to find the limit. however, looking at the table, g(-3) is undefined. this means we have to look at the values around it.

remember, the limit coming from the left can be different from the limit coming from the right, so we’re gonna solve for each one.

as the x-values are getting closer to -3 on the left side, the y-value is getting closer and closer to 5.

as the x-values are getting closer to -3 on the right side, the y-valued are also getting closer to 5.

now we can see that the limit from the left and the limit from the right are both 5. they are equal!! this means the limit does exist and it is 5. let’s write that!!!

YAY WE DID IT

THE LIMIT OF G(X) AS X-> -3 IS 5!!!!!
