“Well, my power was turned off because I’ve been so busy with rehearsals and forgot to pay the bill. So I woke up in a 98-degree apartment with no lights. I think my day is going pretty well, considering.”
Beth loved to dance to classic musical, the music written for ballet but occasionally she liked to dance to more unique choices. She usually waited until the rehearsal room was clear to work on audition pieces or showcase solos to all manner of genres. Today she was working on a piece when she heard the door open. She paused in her pirouettes and cringed at how loud the music was. “Sorry, is it too loud?” She asked.
He didn’t want to get in the way, so he just stood in the entrance of the studio for a minute and waited for the music to stop. “You always make that look really easy” he commented, walking inside.
Audrey smiled weakly as her coworker yawned. “Guess I’m not the only one here completely exhausted.”
“So, I heard through the grapevine that you’ve got a very special... meeting tonight.” Audrey smiled knowingly. She was happy for her friend, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t tease them about it.
“Hey, so I’m gonna order a couple pizzas for everybody after rehearsal, got an preferred toppings? So far I’ve got lots of requests for cheese and one for mushrooms and olives.”
“Bloody hell, it’s hot today and it’s not even nine.” Beth commented as she sat on the balcony to one of the break areas. She got to the rehearsal rooms so early that sometimes she just ate breakfast there. She was wearing only her sports bra and dance shorts with soft shoes. “We never had summers like this in England.”
“Since we’re being all open and honest, I’m just gonna put this out there: I suck at fouettes en pointe. They freaked me out when I first started pointe, so I never put much work into them, and as a result, I still suck at them. I can maybe do like four or five...”
