Assurance in the Prayer Book

A few months ago, with a measure of frustration, I observed a social media debate between two Anglicans, one of whom is a staunch Calvinist,

The BCP expounds upon the gospel doctrine of assurance. The eucharist is an assurance of God’s grace. The doctrine addresses that good works are a sign to assure us of God’s grace even though we sinners can never do enough works to earn salvation by our own merit.

O God, who by the leading of a star didst manifest thy only-begotten Son to the Gentiles; Mercifully grant that we, who know thee now by faith, may after this life have the fruition of thy glorious Godhead; through* Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Christ came into the world where He had every right to be, He was welcomed by some, thought insignificant by others, and the powers and principalities (the government) tried to kill Him as an infant. One of the central points of His manifest presence was to end the power of memetic madness (mass formation psychosis) in scapegoating the innocent. He was scapegoated, killed, and rose again to defeat death and the satanic power of satan driving out satan (the scapegoating mechanism) by exposing it for what it really is… a false solution… a fraud. He will come again to judge the quick and the dead and His kingdom will have no end… the power of the regime of this world will be broken.

Almighty and most merciful Father, We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us.
