Treasure Island Poster Covers: Since Treasure Island has had a lot of reboots, I started to look at some of the posters that have been made from the 1900 - 2012. May create a poster as well for the book. Looking at the colours, composition, typography which some have the some kind of style and images they use.
Photoshop Design - Tree: Before & After.
Here are one of the designs I’ve quickly made on Photoshop, a picture taken in my local area on top of a hill. You can see the original image on the top and then of course the edited at the bottom, a lot more can be done to it still, so it’s still work in progress.
The message I’m trying to get across is that, if Air pollution was to increase over time, then the image on the right is what our future and future generations will look like, maybe. I captioned it ‘Beautiful..wasn’t it?!?’ because I thought it’d be suitable, may still change it. The ‘Beautiful’ is on the nice, colourful image because well just look, its a nice view and the ‘Wasn’t it?!?’ on the dark, gloomy, grey image because it use to be a nice peaceful view to look at, but air pollution has ruined it.

Case Study - Boris Pelcer: Environmental Awareness project!
In this case study, I based my work on the artist ‘Boris Pelcer’ project on ‘Environmental awareness’. I was told I could either do my case study on agency or project, so I chose a project an artist has done to get the message out about environmental awareness. The design in the middle is one I created. I put Boris’s designs and made them fill up the silhouette of two children.
I searched up Boris Pelcer and what his Illustrations were about, he says on the left hand side of my poster, “WE LIVE IN PROFIT-DRIVEN ECONOMIES THAT OFTEN FAIL TO CREATE THE MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD OF EFFICIENTLY UTILIZING NATURAL RESOURCES TO SATISFY THE NEEDS OF HUMANITY. AS A RESULT, SOME PLACES GET MORE RESOURCES THAN NECESSARY, WHILE OTHERS BARELY GET ANY RESOURCES A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF INEFFICIENCY IS FOOD DISTRIBUTION. SOME COUNTRIES GET TOO MUCH FOOD, WHILE OTHERS GET BARELY ENOUGH...” that’s just the first part of what he said. Saying why do most parts of the world get more then they need and the other parts of the world, get less attention and barely get what they need. You can mention equality and equity. Equity is giving everyone what they need to be successful. Equality is treating everyone the same.
The second part he goes on to say “I DON’T HAVE THE ANSWERS, BUT TO ENCOURAGE AN EFFORT IN CREATING SOLUTIONS, I USED MY REFUGEE EXPERIENCE OF LIVING A SIMPLER LIFE, AS A SCENARIO OF WHAT LIFE MIGHT BE LIKE FOR OUR CHILDREN & GRANDCHILDREN IF ECONOMIES COLLAPSED, DUE TO THE OUR INABILITY TO EFFICIENTLY UTILIZE NATURAL RESOURCES. THIS SERIES IS MEANT TO BRING YOU OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE TO HELP YOU REKINDLE YOUR APPRECIATION FOR THE LITTLE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE & PROVIDE SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.” Using his refugee experience to help give his work the message he wants to get out. This is why I stuck with Boris Pelcer because he’s experience this kind of life and that gives his work more meaning to it. No one wants to go through this kind of life, so lets not let that happen to us or anyone now and in the future.
I’ve enjoyed researching his work, making this design with his designs addede to it, really worked out well and finding out about this project he did.
Learning Outcomes
Looking and listing out all of the learning outcomes and task that I’ll be have to complete and keep in mid of doing. writing out this list will help with checking back on time to time.
HMV
HMV information and Photos.
“HMV Retail Ltd. is an entertainment retailing company (registered in England) operating in the United Kingdom. The first HMV-branded store was opened by the Gramophone Company on Oxford Street in 1921, and the HMV name was also used for television and radio sets manufactured from the 1930s onwards. The retail side of the business began to expand in the 1960s, and in 1998 was divested from EMI, the successor to the Gramophone Company, to form what would become HMV Group.”
“His Master's Voice (HMV) is a famous trademark in the recording industry and was the unofficial name of a major British record label. The phrase was coined in the 1890s as the title of a painting of a terrier mix dog named Nipper, listening to a wind-up disc gramophone. In the original painting, the dog was listening to a cylinder phonograph. In the 1970s, the statue of the dog and gramophone, His Master's Voice, were cloaked in bronze and was awarded by the record company (EMI) to artists or music producers or composers as a music award and often only after selling more than 100.000 sound carriers such as LPs.”

Been doing some research on HMV when it began, where it started up, how many stores etc. I’ll be looking up more of the history about HMV like the how they’ve developed over the years, where stores are based and also think about the interactive retail experience for it.
New Project!
First project of my second year at University called ‘Subject in context’. Looking at the Brief it’s about picking any brand you like to work on and make a interactive window design or create something new for the brand they’ll attract people walking by, so the the one I’ve chosen to do is ‘HMV’.
I’ve been taking some picture around the bullring of some windows displays, I will be taking more because there are some really nice displays, my phone died so couldn’t take any more *sigh*.
Skull drawing/Map.
I started to draw out this skull because I want to use it for my poster that I may still make or for my final design and how I want it to look.
Here is the skull again, but as an Island. Yes influence came from King Kong/ Kong Skull Island, but this is my design recreated from the drawing above. more detail will be added thought it would be a nice design for my project.

Plan for final: Here are ideas of what I’m thinking of doing for the final piece. I’ll be making one of these on the images here. I know what I want to do and how to go about it, now it’s just getting it done.
