Blood Does Not Family Make: Chapter 9
As they walked through the house, Remus providing random anecdotes about the rooms his inner wolf had called home during his time as a student, Cate’s eyes caught on the different signs of his presence. Deep claw marks gouged into the floor in one of the bedrooms, scratches on the wall, a large hole where a door used to be. She tried to imagine a tiny, first-year Remus Lupin, sitting on that bed anxiously awaiting the moment his body would transform.
“How old were you? When you were bitten?” Cate asked hesitantly. “Dumbledore just told me that you had already been turned before your first year.”
Remus paused, looking at her with a closed-off expression on his face. The silence stretched for a long breathless moment between them before he turned to look out the window.
In which Cate and Remus prepare for Sirius Black's arrival in Hogsmeade and Remus shares some things with Cate that lead her to reach out to her cousin, Marshall.
