The Indspire Awards were established in 1993 in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Decade of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, and after 24 years, 337 outstanding First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals have been honoured for their accomplishments. These positive role models demonstrate to Indigenous youth that they can achieve their dreams, too.
Hosted by multi-award nominated actress and singer/songwriter, Cheri Maracle and well-known TV personality, Kyle Nobess, the 2017 Indspire Awards were broadcast on Global TV and APTN from Ottawa, Ontario on July 1st. The ceremony featured Indigenous talent from across the country, including a special guest performance by musical icon, Buffy Sainte-Marie!
