1/31/13. I'm here from the cut to the scab.. :: Charelle and I made it to the hospital to see Nikki before they sent her to hospice. Unfortunately, Nikki never made it to hospice. She passed away about 4 hours after this picture was taken. Blessed that we had the opportunity to see and talk to her one last time. Nikki was 22 and this was her 2nd time with breast cancer. :: SSPW sponsored Nikki’s son for Christmas before she passed away and for a few years afterwards. I often wonder how he is doing. I need to contact her family soon. :: When I started Shay Sharpe's Pink Wishes I thought it would be all about granting wishes! Never imagined the women we worked with & their families, would turn into our families. Never imagined the bonds that would be created via SSPW & social media. Never imagined I would be in the room as our 1st Wish Recipient took her last breath, nor going to hospitals to visit our girls for the last time, accompanying our girls at countless Dr appointments or sitting at hospice alone with a cold body as I wait for the young lady's family to arrive. :: After 2 battles with breast cancer in which I found my own lump on both occasions, I know my life could've ended up WAY differently. It didn't though. God left me here for a reason, even though sometimes I wish he didn't trust me so much. I have work to do. I will continue to be their voice when they can no longer speak. ~ Madame President :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: www.shaysharpespinkwishes.org #sspw #teamnikki #cancer #breastcancer #youngwomen #youngwomencananddogetbreastcancer #RIP #mbc #mylifeafterbreastcancer #iammysisterskeeper #life #sspwxmas #hospital #knowyourbody #friends #heavyistheheadthatwearsthecrown #StageIV #unconditionallove #TeamSSPW (at St. Agnes Patient Tower) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtenE_LB_h1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=d2p964b1vdul
