"One At A Knife" Chapter 1 - (part 1)

It was a cozy morning in the middle of November. The autumnal season leaving its final marks.

Seán was barely waking up from his deep slumber. His mind was trying to find the memories of his recent dream, which, he was sure it was a weird one, but couldn't remember all of it. Something about an abandoned house and a strange glitchy silhouette.

With a quick stretch he got out of his bed and went straight towards the bathroom.

It was going to be a nice morning........Except it wasn't morning anymore!

"Dammit!" he cursed at the sudden realization. It was 2 in the fricking evening, as his cellphone pointed out. Upon seen this, Seán abruptly ran to the sink, trying to get done with the washing part as fast as possible.

Once done, he flew through all his room, changed his clothes and raced to the kitchen to grab a quick snack from the fridge.

He had not recorded a single thing. How could he fall asleep just like that??! Maybe that dream lasted more than expected.

The more he remembered it, the more it felt like it was more of a nightmare than a dream.

He went straight to his recording room and was immediately tempted to check on social media. But he already knew what was happening. The news and the internet were infested by reports of "Strange Stars" seen by many people around the world.

It could've been one of those normal fake UFO reports....But no. This time was different.

These were really BIG shiny stars.

Stars that were able to flash the entire sky, just like the sun. And there were lots of these appearing around the globe.

Yeah, it has been a crazy week.

Seán decided to not focus too much on that today. Of course there were other things to see, apart from the star, but maybe he could check on that later.

Right now, he was going to focus on the game he's been recording since he got home from LA: "Death Stranding".

He's been sooo into it. It also has been a long while since he had a series going on in the channel.

Having to record this and enjoy the nice pase of the game, made him relaxed and comfortable in a way. He was having fun.

"Ring-... Ring-"

"Hm?" Seán turned to see his cellphone.

A mysterious number calling him in the middle of recording.

"That's weird." He said at noticing some of the digits glitching

"Anyway. I don't know you" He put his phone on vibration and left it on the desk next to him, just in case someone important actually called or messaged him.

"......... Brrrrrrr-..... Brrrrrrr-"

The phone kept vibrating, now with a complete different number. Still unknown. It didn't stop.

After ending his recording session, Seán went to check his phone.

It had stopped vibrating at some point, but there were a lot of missed calls from different unknown numbers in it.

"Weird... " Jack frowned.

"......... RING-... RING-"

The ring made Seán jump.

"Jesus!!" That definitely got him by surprise.

He didn't remember turning the sound up.

"RING-.... RING-"

"............." At this point, Seán felt certain unease in his body. He didn't usually picked strange numbers, and this one was giving him a bad feeling.

... But he tried to think logically.

It probably was an emergency call from someone he knew....just calling from another phone.

....... Yeah, that probably was it.

He picked the call. "Hello?"

"hsvagebeban%@+$/@4$6&8/vavwbj" No normal voice could've made that sound. It was pure static with weird glitchy sounds. And a very distorted voice that was impossible to know what was it saying.

Suddenly, all the lights started flickering like crazy. The two twin lamps in the corner of his room, the light bulb above him, his very bright recording lights, the computer... his phone. All of them were also emitting a sharp sound, blended with white noise.

... That's when his reality started to bend.

Everything went blurry and glitchy. The world around him disappearing into an RGB cloud.

The white noise grew louder.

Séan panicked and covered his ears.

What was happening?

I caught a stream of yours finally yesterday, but Indi, please, why are your canvas sizes, especially for a ych, why do you draw at 72 dpi? I'm dying Indi that's so tiny!!

AND OK, actually about this DPI stuff! (because i’ve been pointed out about this before) someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but DPI is just the image quality you’ll get once you print it, right?

72 DPI is just the default on Clip, i don’t change it because I don’t print my works. I just look at pixel dimensions. usually i work on about 2200px wide, which is about 7.3 inches wide at 300DPI!

but even that aside, yeah I do draw on relatively small canvases XD it’s a bad habit, I’ve been slowly getting out of it as I’ve worked more on my comic (my pics used to be like 1200 px wide on average…………)
