Oral Roberts - If You Need To Be Saved Do These Things - Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association - 1982
Acts 4:12 (NIV) - Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Dess is destruction.
She wants to bring the roaring because she has no respect for these toys, for this world. Her thrown away violins, her army gear, her cracked baseball bat. She never wanted to create. She was the villain. She always loved destroying. Maybe because she felt there was nothing left to create. Her family is broken. So, what’s a few more cracks? She always liked this role. She wants to stay in it forever, to avoid confronting the outside world by reveling in her fantasy, the one where she traps the heroes in her world, lost eternally in an endless night, just like she was, just like she was.
How the lost get found...
My brother and his family own a dog. She's a beautiful yellow lab named Daisy. She's super sweet and gentle, and my niece and nephew (3 and 5) adore her.
Last year, when Daisy was maybe one year old, she was riding in the back of my brother's truck, and it is believed that at one point, my brother had to stop do to traffic rules, and Daisy jumped out of the back of the truck. When my brother got home, they all were distressed to find Daisy was gone.
The urgency to find her was significant.
The kids were worried and scared for her. My sister-in-law fretted, and my brother felt guilty about her loss and tried to do all the searching on his own.
It takes me and my parents roughly 40 minutes to get to my brother's house, and we all drove there at 10:30 PM to go help look for Daisy.
We posted pictures and a reward offering for her safe return. Calls were made; clues were followed; and other people online and physically there helped in the search.
Finally, 24-hours later, a good Samaritan found the poor pup limping on an injured front paw, took her in, gave her a bath, and mended the paw. Connections were made, and Daisy was returned home safe and sound. The good Samaritan did not accept the cash reward, but it was left in her mailbox all the same.
Have you ever lost something or (God forbid) someone and you felt the urgency and overwhelming desire to find what's been lost? Can you remember all the steps you took to recover what's been lost? How far were you willing to go? Do you remember the sweet relief when what was lost was found?
For my family, we weren't just searching for a dog, we were on a rescue mission to bring a loved one home safe and sound.
God is on a rescue mission to bring His loved ones home safe and sound. AKA you
The urgency of His rescue mission is significant, and He is willing to do whatever it takes to bring His beloved home safe and sound. We saw this already at the cross and resurrection.
If you have not been saved by Jesus, it's not too late to be rescued. Rescued from darkness. From shame, fear, mistakes, guilt, anxiety, pressures of the world, all of it. You can be saved from it all. There are far greater things you were meant for, and Jesus can supply them all. All you have to do is accept Him and His free-to-you gift of being rescued.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is a gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. - Romans 10:17 ESV Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." - John 14:6 ESV
If you have been saved by Jesus, congratulations! You have been rescued, and you are safe in His hands. But now you're part of the rescue mission team, and we need to remember the urgency of what's at stake. Everyone you see is one of God's beloved that He is seeking to rescue. We are called to be like the good Samaritan who found Daisy: to love and care for those around us like Jesus would, to point them to Jesus, so He can do what He does best.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. - Luke 19:10 ESV Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. - 1 John 4:7 ESV Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:19-20 ESV
When we draw our last breath only one thing will matter.
That our name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
