Alrighty! This scarf is ready and I didn’t add a fringe as I’d previously planned. If you’d like a fringe then leave it for me in the comments at purchase. Find this fabulous scarf here.
I will be honest - I don’t care for fringes. Handmade fringes will make a perfectly machine-washable scarf into a delicate beast. So please keep that in mind!
This is still not quite the final version of my new Beam Guardian scarves. I’m pleased with the length and width (just over 7′ long and 9″ across) and the designs, but I used a different cast on and cast off, and weirdly the cast on I used this time would go better with the cast off of the last scarf and vice versa. I don’t think these are things a non-knitter would care about though lol.
I’ll have another one of these ready in a few weeks. I have some other projects in the works then I’ll get started on another. Making one of these - if I work straight through and don’t work on anything else - runs about 3-4 days.
Long days and pleasant nights to you all.
Here’s what I’ve got going on so far with the v2.0 Turtle/Bear Beam Guardian scarf. I’ll also make one in shades of brown and see which looks best then I’ll try to get a few up in my Etsy shop for this fall. This is a bit of a side-project at the moment, so progress is slow. After I finish up a few other things I’ll hunker down on it.
About a million years ago I was making various Beam Guardian scarves on the reg. I’ve been jonesing a bit to reread the entire series again and also thinking about doing a re-vamped version of at least the turtle/bear beam scarf. I was thinking a simplified double-knitting, so it’s reversible, thick and squishy. Similar earthy colors. No cabling, but instead a twisting two-tone pattern up the center. No tassles. I hate making tassles. I made these scarves pretty early in my knitting career and I’ve leveled up a bit since. Any lurking Dark Tower fans interested?
I finally finished this lovely thing! It ended up being nearly 9′ long and I’ll definitely be doing only two iterations of the Unfound sigil on the next one, which will shave off about 2.5 feet. It’s 9′ across and because it’s double-knit it’s two layers and very soft and squishy.
It will be a few weeks before I start the next one, which will be in two shades of brown. I’ll be working straight through on the next one to see how long it takes so I can gauge how many I can make for the fall/winter this year.
If you want a super-long beam scarf then this is it! Get it here!
