I am an absolute sucker for Malex high school AU fics, especially when they feel real, and BOY did this feel real to me. High school can be such a cruel and petty place, and @christchex just nailed that aspect of it in this fic. I love the way it’s structured, around different rumors. But the fic ALSO captures the depth of feeling and the intensity of a high school love. There’s a moment here where Alex just can’t tolerate the rumors anymore, and it’s so satisfying. I loved this.

This had me tearing up. This fic just perfectly captures how MUCH there is between these two, still. The setup is a good one - Alex was planning to drive up the coast for Liz and Max’s wedding, but his car is acting up. Michael offers to drive him. The way @bean-me-up is able to convey emotion in this fic is just excellent. Both of these guys know that mistakes have been made, but they also know how much love and affection is still there. I really enjoyed this.
