The walls of MilkBoy Philly in Center City could barely contain the electrifying energy of last Saturday’s show. The Beardfest Presents nearly-sold out bill featured local favorites Nik Greeley & The Operators, Underwater Sounds, and Out of the Beardspace for a genre-spanning night of music.
Nik Greeley & The Operators wasted no time getting the crowd on their feet dancing with their impeccable blend of funk and rock. Greeley remained as captivating as ever, commanding both the stage and the audience with his charisma and powerhouse vocals.

Underwater Sounds played a highly-anticipated set, as they had not played together in over two years. Despite the long hiatus, the crowd knew all the words to their songs which ranged from chilled-out reggae to high-tempo rock/reggae fusion. Christina Klaproth from Miss Cantaloupe joined in on vocals for their song “Why?” Both Underwater Sounds and Miss Cantaloupe will perform at Beardfest this year.
Out of the Beardspace closed the night. OOTB also have not played live in a while, but these childhood friends groove so well together that it seemed like no time had passed. Their set veered on the heavier side at parts, and fans were excited to hear favorites like “Intent to Express” and “Flo.”
Out of the Beardspace will once again headline Beardfest 2018 from June 14th to 16th, the DIY festival they created a few years ago. Evolving from a concert in one of the members’ backyards to a 3-day music and arts festival at Paradise Lakes Campground, Beardfest provides a memorable, eco-friendly experience for every kind of music lover. Other memorable acts this year include Marco Benevento; Medeski, Martin, and Mononeon; Moon Hooch, Swift Technique, and many more.
