I have strong opinions on minecraft lore but never had anywhere to share them before, so here goes: I've always been a netherrack meat truther. The nether is made of meat, specifically the remains of a dead god. The lava was its blood, the netherrack its muscles, soul sand is what's left of the mortals it consumed. There's not much left of its bones but they're there. Striders, Magma Cubes, and Ghasts are its immune system, similar to white blood vessels and platelets. Everything else is foreign; piglins and wither skeletons and blazes were brought in by the ancient civilizations that built the ruined portals.
Oh interestinggg! I've never heard such an in depth review of this headcanon!
Maybe I'm thinking too far here, but let me add on some of my thoughts ^_^
The floor in the nether has the texture of very dense dried meat. Kind of as if you put millions of dried beef jerky next to eachother. Due to it's dryness and density, it's stable enough to walk on, similar to a grass field that's just been mowed.
Magma cubes and ghasts serve as the T cells of the nether. They attack pathogens (in this case, the player), while the striders are the B memory cells, serving as the observatory and recognition system.
Piglins, wither skeletons, etc, used to be recognised as a pathogen. But, due to not being harmful to the nether they've stayed, similar to one of the many various microbiomes we have in our bodies.
Similarly, every nether biome would've served its function in the living god, like organs.
