Bearward is not a story with a million twists, turns, and red herrings. The first few pieces of the puzzle will be shoved in your face immediately; the others… you’ll have to search for, little by little, thread by carefully placed thread, all the while contemplating whether or not you even want to be right.
BEARWARD

A bear keeper or trainer, typically employed to oversee bears used in early modern displays and baiting events; one who lived in close proximity to a creature capable of turning dangerous—without warning.
“Bear?” she asks, eyebrows raised, his hand hovering between them in a handshake, offered and forgotten. “That’s your name?”
“Yeah, it’s, uh…” he says, smile wide as he scratches the back of his neck. “It’s ironic, huh?”
“A bit, yes,” she nods, polite laughter escaping them both as her smile grows to match—broad and toothy. “Ursa,” she says, then, finally taking his hand in her own.
