I'm gonna shill y'all this Kickstarter cause I want it to make that voice acting stretch goal. This is Beaten Path, a game looking to blend primarily FFT and Fire Emblem game mechanics, if anything it looks like a lot of FFT character building and Fire Emblem map layouts/controls. It's a high fantasy story about a woman named Panna discovering the secrets of a world that has fragments of different time periods scattered around. I was basically sold as soon as I saw the Engage style combat animations and map control. Though I definitely noticed the hexagonal map grid which is exciting, we love hexagonal isometric grids.
Also stoked on game progression via an overworld map, the only time I've seen that in an SRPG (not counting the node-based maps of many FFT/FE games) is Shining Force
Also it's pretty low risk as a Kickstarter. It was only asking for 20k for artistic resources, and the stretch goals are relatively modest (additional difficulty modes, and console port funding). It seems like a game they would have made and released anyway even if they came up short, it'll just be the difference between how much polish and reach they can manage to get it before launch. (They already seem to have more tilesets than other indie strategy games I've been following)
There's more to see on their Kickstarter page like character designs, the Haven (Somniel/My Castle/Monastery equivalent), the equipment and skill tree screens. Be sure to check it out, I'll just end this with a link to the trailer.
