I am a day late but my answer is quite a boring one anyway. It was all the fault of the Get Back documentary. My mum and dad were 70s teens so they loved the Rolling Stones and Hendrix etc, The Beatles were a band I knew from having to learn their songs at school (shout out to Yellow Submarine!) and because I had the 1 album on CD because pretty much everyone did. But then I started seeing these little clips everywhere from this new Beatles documentary and I was surprised to discover they were really daft and funny and that John and Paul seemed to be a little too obsessed with each other for a pair of totally straight platonic guitar bros. My poor innocent brother had Disney+ and that Christmas I made him watch the whole of Get Back over 3 consecutive nights, although I'd actually started my first J/P fic 2 days earlier on the train home because the clips were enough to start me devouring all the fic I could find.
