Perspective with Reef @lostcauze on today’s Beat Society Podcast “A black man isn’t allowed to cry in public unless he’s behind a saxophone” comedian @nealbrennan 🙏🏽 thank you for spreading the word. Just recently black men have been allowed to cry in public. Well not really look how they treated our friend @tyrese as he dealt with his depression. Why do we laugh at a black man crying? This causes us to cover our emotions with macho. For the past 10 years I’ve listen to hip-hop totally different. I’ve heard it as black man crying out for help for so long as everyone else dances to our pain. Just recently rappers like @royceda59 @phontigallo @jayzmrcarter @murs316 have opened up. You can say what you want about the youth. You can call them soft and emotional. But I think this is a direct reflection and inspired by the vulnerability of what we called ”EMO” hip hop. So I say thank you to young rappers for setting us all the rappers free. I give credit were it’s deserved. Bridging the gap. All love .
