it's not scott + mental illness, but rather scott + disability in general, so i started reading x-men, and i didn't really like scott all that much (granted bc i started reading it during scott summer's character decay so my bad) and then i noticed scott has canonical brain damage??? and i am so here for canonically disabled scott because it makes so much sense and now i love this character and am mad that no one respects the disability apart from "cant control his eyes" pt 1

(pt2) and i've been sitting on this rant for wayyyyyy too long, but honestly: i need more disabled scott summers things in canon that explain his paranoia (well, i think it's an interesting mix of the brain damage and fucking xavier's grooming of scott as the ultimate soldier)

YEAH it’s a neverending source of frustration to me that marvel doesn’t want to acknowledge how unlikely it is that brain damage would have only affected his mutation. & in general it would be nice if his various disabilities were explicitly talked about more, and...not in situations where he’s just being belittled for it lmao
