March end of month post 2 of 3: Ten of my favourite landscape and sky photos I took this month at Andrew's Mare in the New Forest, Lepe, Pennington, the nearly full worm moon at home, Fishlake Meadows, view on a boat trip along the Beaulieu River, Hayling Island on a lovely sunny day, evening walk at Lakeside Country Park, Testwood Lakes and the River Itchen at the Weirs, Winchester.

I took in some beautiful places and scenes this month and it was great to see it get lighter and lighter allowing more time outdoors in my week. Last night part 1 of these posts went out with ten of my favourite plant and fungi photos from this month and tomorrow night is the final one with ten of my favourite wildlife photos I took this month.

24/03/2024-Lakeside Country Park and boat trip along the Beaulieu River with Wild New Forest on this beautiful evening

Photos taken in this set are of; my first Speckled Wood of the year and wood anemone at Lakeside my joint earliest ever sighting of a Speckled Wood in a year the third time I've first seen one in a year on this date, view and Cormorant from the boat trip, lesser celandine and green alkanet on the walk at Lakeside and Mute Swan at Bucklers Hard where the boat sailed from and another view from it. Peregrines gently kissed by the gorgeous evening sunlight, Buzzards, Marsh Harrier, Avocets, Shelducks, Brent Geese, Egyptian Geese, Mediterranean Gull, Oystercatcher, Turnstone, Mediterranean Gull and seal were other highlights on the boat trip which once again was a wonderful way to spend time seeing wildlife in a unique way, learning a lot and spending time with great people. Blackcap, Dunnock, Blue Tit, House Sparrow, Moorhen including seen on a nest and bringing in vegetation to build it, Great Crested Grebe, bee, my first ever opposite-leaved golden saxifrage, snowflakes, bluebells and hyacinth were also good to see at Lakeside with a bat seen out the front as I admired the full worm moon tonight. A fantastic and packed wild weekend in the New Forest and at home.

Little and large birds and seals: Looking back on standout species seen last weekend

With its striking colour that reminds me of a comfy jumper and belly the hue of the north pole, it was a pleasure to get exceptional views of a Little Stint at Pennington on Saturday. Thrilling to see it race along the shingle shore, as it passed a Canada Goose its minute figure put into sharp focus.

At the other end of the avian scale on Sunday it was exhilarating to witness three majestic White-tailed Eagles soaring over their reclaimed kingdom at Newtown on the Isle of Wight. Almost surreal to see their magnificent size when two were settled on fence posts. And on that boat trip both at Newtown and going down the Beaulieu River I was spellbound by seals. Enchanting Common Seals with their adorable and inquisitive faces which were joyful to see so well. Longer faced Grey Seals a treat too, enigmatic ocean wanderers and wonders.
